Xiaomi team up With Li Ning in order to manufacture 'Smart' Running Shoes

Earlier today a chinese tech website 36Krypton reported that Xiaomi is working on its first smartwatch. While the truth behind the smartwatch remains to be established, now new report reveals that Xiaomi is teaming up with China's Li Ning company to produce smart shoes.

Reuters reports that Chinese Smartphone maker Xiaomi is teaming up with Li Ning Co Ltd (Chinese shoemaker) to produce a new generation of smart running shoes later this year.

The product of the partnership will be smart chips which can be placed into Li Ning's shoes to analyze and track data. It will pair with the smartphone via Xiaomi's mobile app. This will allow users to record their progress, track achievements, and analyze the results while running.

Actually the partnership is between Xiaomi's Huami Technology and La Ning. Huami technology is a fitness wearable company responsible for the Mi Band and is owned by Xiaomi.

"We have chosen to collaborate with the Mi band because of Huami Technology's strength in 'smart' wearable products," Li-Ning stated. "We hope to use this opportunity to provide professional 'smart' running shoes to running enthusiasts in China at an affordable price."

Li Ning is not doing well as far as the profits go and is looking to boost their income. Li-Ning has been attempting to restore its profile for years now. On the other side Xiaomi is doing well and has been growing for quite sometime now. It manufactures all sort of gadget, of which a number of products is planned to release this year. So a collaboration with Xiaomi could be the saving grace for La Ning.
