Huawei built Nexus smartphone rumoured to feature 5.7-inch QHD display and Snapdragon 810
Earlier rumors suggested that Google will be teaming up with Huawei for 2015 edition of Nexus smartphone. Now more details have surfaced online regarding this device.
According to Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang, Huawei will manufacture the next Nexus smartphone. The smartphone will feature a Samsung built 5.7-inch OLED display that will feature a QHD resolution 1440 x 2560 pixels.
This comes as a surprise because Huawei in the past have criticized the use of QHD display on smartphones by calling it a stupid thing. Huawei CEO Richard Yu in an interview said "Your eyes totally cannot identify between full HD and QHD on a smartphone. You can't distinguish the difference, so it's totally nonsense,". The use of QHD screen on the next Nexus device is no doubt, a choice decided by Google.
The Chinese analyst also revealed that the device will be powered by Snapdragon 810. Again the decision must have come from Google itself as Huawei uses its proprietary Hi-Silicon Kirin chipsets on their high-end devices.
Earlier reports speculated that LG will manufacture the next Nexus smartphone. LG has already worked with Google on Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones.
Both Google and Huawei are yet to confirm the arrival of the successor to the Nexus 6 smartphone.
