Samsung Galaxy S6 active with 3500mAh battery, IP68 shell goes official
Samsung introduced the rugged version of Galaxy S6 - Galaxy S6 active for AT&T subscribers in the U.S. The Galaxy S6 active is IP68 certified that makes it water resistant (up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes), dust proof and shock resistant. It also meets the Mil-STD-810G standard for withstanding vibration, temperature extremes, humidity and high altitude.
The Galaxy S6 active sports three physical buttons - home, back and multi-window. A major improvement is the inclusion of a 3500mAh battery with wireless charging clubbed with Ultra Power saving mode and fast charging tech. In addition, it comes with "Activity Zone"feature that include quick launching compass, flashlight, stopwatch and more. Rest of specs are similar to the original flagship.
Samsung Galaxy S6 active features 5.1-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit processor paired with 3GB RAM. The phone comes with 32GB internal storage. It runs Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box. Camera features include 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera. It supports 4G LTE connectivity and comes in Camo White, Camo Blue and Grey colors.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 active will be available starting June 12 via AT&T. It will be available on contract for $34.75/month in 20 instalments and the off-contract price is $695 (Rs. 44,500).
