GoPro Hero 4 Session is the smallest and lightest camera ever, priced $399

California based sports camera maker, GoPro launched its smallest and lightest camera yet called Hero4 session. It weighs 76 grams, making it lighter than the company's best selling Hero4 Silver that weighs 82 grams. According to the company, the Hero4 Session is simpler to use because it has one button to switch on the camera and begin recording or capture photos.

A short press of the shutter button will turn on the camera and automatically start recording videos. A long press of the shutter button triggers Time Lapse photo capture. Press the button again and it will save the video or photo and turns off the camera. The one button designs. This simple one button design drastically improves the speed and convenience of capturing life moments as they happen, the company said.

Hero4 Session captures GoPro quality 1080p at 60fps, 720pat 100fps and 1440p at 30fps video. It also captures 8-megapixel photos in Single Burst and Time Lapse modes. It includes Superview, Protune and Auto Low light recording modes. Users can access more controls and settings via GoPro ppp and Smart Remote app.

The Hero4 Session is waterproof for up to 33 feet and is built on GoPro's rugged standards. There is also a dual microphone system which switches sound recording between microphones to reduce wind noise. The waterproof design eliminates the need of a separate waterproof case and enhances audio performance during water-based activities.

While the Hero4 Session weighs less, this has not shrunk the price. It will retail for US$ 399.99  (Rs. 25,000) and will go on sale starting July 12 via authorized GoPro retailers around the world and GoPro.com.

The company also introduced 2 new mounts which is specifically designed for Hero4 Session camera - Ball Joint Buckle and Floaty. The Ball Joint Buckle comes included with Hero4 Session camera. It has a rotating axis that allows for a range of perspectives from a single mounting position and enables users to quickly change the angle of capture without un-mounting the camera. Floaty on the other hand is an flotation accessory that can be wrapped around Hero4 Session to keep it afloat. It is designed to protect the camera while also allowing access to shutter button and is "perfect for worry-free shooting" in the water.
