UMi teases Zero 2 with dual display setup like YotaPhone

Chinese handset maker UMi is getting ready to unveil a smartphone with dual-screen display. Dubbed as Zero 2, it will have two screens, the regular color display on the front and an E-ink screen on its rear. UMI posted a teaser image of the phone on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ with the tagline "duplex life".

The concept of dual-screen phones is not new. Russia's Yota devices pushed this idea to the market in 2012 with the YotaPhone and the sequel, YotaPhone 2 last year. Yota devices is not the only company to announce such device, China's Siswoo unveiled the R9 Darkmoon which has a similar concept.

E-ink display is the same technology we find in e-reader. They are known for energy efficiency and elongating battery life (up to months). With E-ink display, users can read text without straining his or her eyes making it convenient for reading.

UMi Zero 2 has a flat design just like the YotaPhone first gen. It is expected to come with 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6752 processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 13-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel camera on the front. The phone will support 4G LTE connectivity and runs Android Android 4.4 KitKat.
