Windows 10 upgrade now available in 190 countries


Microsoft has started rolling out Windows 10 in 190 countries as a free upgrade for existing Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 PC and tablet users. The update will be rolling out in waves. 

Microsoft calls Windows 10 as the "most secure Windows ever" and the OS will be "delivered as a service and kept automatically up-to-date with innovations and security updates." It is also the last version of Windows.

Users who have reserved their place for the update will be notified about the Windows 10 upgrade when available on you Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 powered devices. Those who have not signed up for the update can click the Windows 10 upgrade icon on task bar to reserve it. If you can't find the Windows 10 update icon, enable 'Windows Update' in Control panel.

Windows 10 will also be available to buy for new users via online and offline stores. The pricing details for India is not available, but it in the U.S, Windows 10 Home is priced $119 (Rs. 7,500) and Windows 10 Pro is priced $199 (Rs. 12,600). Microsoft is also offering a $99 (Rs. 6,300) Windows 10 Pro pack that enables Windows 10 Home users to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. 

Microsoft has also released ISO files for Windows 10 on its website, but you will need to buy a Windows product key to install it.

Windows 10 bring new features like Cortana integration, Microsoft's new Edge browser, Continuum, Microsoft Phone Companion app, new office mobile apps and more. Cortana is available only in select regions, with India to get it in the coming months. Windows 10 also offers enhanced Windows defender and smart screen to help safeguard against viruses, malware and phishing. The Windows Hello greets yhou be name, providing a fast, secured, password free way to log in.

Microsoft Edge browser replaces Internet Explorer, and lets you browse, read, bookmark and share much faster that IE. The integrated Xbox App delivers the Xbox experience to Windows 10, bringing together your friends, games, and accomplishments across Xbox One and Windows 10 devices. The Companion Phone app lets you set up your iPhone, Android or Windows phone to work seamlessly with your Windows device. Continuum optimizes your apps and experience across touch and desktop modes. Windows 10 comes with new built-in applications including Microsoft’s new music app Groove, Photos, Maps, Movies & TV, OneDrive, and more. In addition, new Office Mobile apps – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote – are available today in the Windows Store.
