OnePlus 2 goes on sale today for those who have an invite
The wait is over. The highly awaited smartphone of the year, OnePlus 2 will go on sale today outside China for those who have an invite. The phone will be available for purchase in Europe, North America and in India. Till date, over 3.5 million people have signed up for the reservation list.
OnePlus 2 will go on sale in India via Amazon starting 4pm today. Users with India-specific invites will be able to buy the OnePlus 2 on Amazon India after claiming them from OnePlus site. The first batch of invites will start rolling out today itself. Announcing the availability in a blog post, OnePlus said India is "one of the first markets to launch the OnePlus 2."
Notably, the 64GB variant of the OnePlus 2 will be made available in India at first, with the 16GB model coming later this year. The OnePlus 2 64GB costs 24,999 and the 16GB model costs 22,999.
While in North America the OnePlus 2 will not be released today because the company is facing delays due to "production schedules". However US and Canada users will be able to claim their invites and can purchase the OnePlus 2 from Tuesday, but the actual shipment of the smartphones are delayed. It will commence 2-3 weeks after shipments to Europe.
"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Although some fans may be disappointed to hear this news, we would rather be transparent about the situation." said OnePlus in its forum post.
To recap, the OnePlus 2 was launched on July 28. It comes with octa-core Snapdragon 810, 5.5-inch Full HD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, 13MP/5MP shooter, USB Type-C port, 4G LTE support, fingerprint sensor and 3300mAh battery. The 16GB model packs 3GB RAM, rest of the specs are same.
