OnePlus 2 goes on sale today for those who have an invite

The wait is over. The highly awaited smartphone of the year, OnePlus 2 will go on sale today outside China for those who have an invite. The phone will be available for purchase in Europe, North America and in India. Till date, over 3.5 million people have signed up for the reservation list.

OnePlus 2 will go on sale in India via Amazon starting 4pm today. Users with India-specific invites will be able to buy the OnePlus 2 on Amazon India after claiming them from OnePlus site. The first batch of invites will start rolling out today itself. Announcing the availability in a blog post, OnePlus said India is "one of the first markets to launch the OnePlus 2."

Notably, the 64GB variant of the OnePlus 2 will be made available in India at first, with the 16GB model coming later this year. The OnePlus 2 64GB costs 24,999 and the 16GB model costs 22,999.

While in North America the OnePlus 2 will not be released today because the company is facing delays due to "production schedules". However US and Canada users will be able to claim their invites and can purchase the OnePlus 2 from Tuesday, but the actual shipment of the smartphones are delayed. It will commence 2-3 weeks after shipments to Europe. 

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Although some fans may be disappointed to hear this news, we would rather be transparent about the situation." said OnePlus in its forum post.

To recap, the OnePlus 2 was launched on July 28. It comes with octa-core Snapdragon 810, 5.5-inch Full HD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, 13MP/5MP shooter, USB Type-C port, 4G LTE support, fingerprint sensor and 3300mAh battery. The 16GB model packs 3GB RAM, rest of the specs are same.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini plus with Snapdragon 410 SoC, 4G LTE launched

Samsung has introduced a new version of Galaxy S4 dubbed Galaxy S4 mini plus. The handset is listed on several Samsung's EU website. It is an improved version of the standard Galaxy S4 mini which was launched in July 2013. It comes with an updated chipset.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini plus features 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) Super AMOLED display and is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor aided by Adreno 306 GPU and 1.5GB RAM. On-board storage is 8GB, further expandable via microSD card up to 64GB. It runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box. Camerwise, it sports 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1.9-megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS/GLONASS. It is fueled by 1900mAh battery. In comes in black and white colors.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini plus is priced at 239 Euros (US$ 260 | Rs. 16,770). It will be available as Galaxy S4 Value Edition for as low as 190 Euros in some of EU markets including Austria, Czech Republic, Romania and Bulgaria.

Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition launched in Europe, available by invite only


Meizu has launched the MX4 Ubuntu Edition in Europe. The phone was launched in China last month for developers.

The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is the original Meizu MX4 but runs Ubuntu Touch OS instead of Android 4.4 KitKat. Ubuntu Phones comes with a new UI called 'Scopes' which will integrate various apps and services into an easy to use interface.

Meizu MX4 Ubuntu edition features 5.36-inch (1920x1152 pixels) IPS display with 15:9 aspect ration and 2.6mm slim bezels on the side. The screen has Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood there is a 2.1GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6595 processor paired with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. Onboard storage is 16GB.

It comes equipped with 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX220 Exmor RS series sensor, and features a blue glass filter apart from f/2.2 aperture. On the front there is a 2-megapixel shooter with
Sony IMX208 sensor and f/2.0 aperture


Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a,b,g,n,ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, and USB connectivity. A 3100mAh battery fuels the MX4 Ubuntu Edition. It measures 144 x 75.2 x 8.9mm, weighs 147g and comes in Black, Golden, Black/White and Silver/White colors.

The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is priced at EUR 299 (US$ 335 | Rs. 21,000) and will be available starting June 25 via company website in an invite-only system.
