Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition launched in Europe, available by invite only
Meizu has launched the MX4 Ubuntu Edition in Europe. The phone was launched in China last month for developers.
The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is the original Meizu MX4 but runs Ubuntu Touch OS instead of Android 4.4 KitKat. Ubuntu Phones comes with a new UI called 'Scopes' which will integrate various apps and services into an easy to use interface.
Meizu MX4 Ubuntu edition features 5.36-inch (1920x1152 pixels) IPS display with 15:9 aspect ration and 2.6mm slim bezels on the side. The screen has Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood there is a 2.1GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6595 processor paired with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. Onboard storage is 16GB.
It comes equipped with 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX220 Exmor RS series sensor, and features a blue glass filter apart from f/2.2 aperture. On the front there is a 2-megapixel shooter with
Sony IMX208 sensor and f/2.0 aperture
Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a,b,g,n,ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, and USB connectivity. A 3100mAh battery fuels the MX4 Ubuntu Edition. It measures 144 x 75.2 x 8.9mm, weighs 147g and comes in Black, Golden, Black/White and Silver/White colors.
The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is priced at EUR 299 (US$ 335 | Rs. 21,000) and will be available starting June 25 via company website in an invite-only system.
