Oppo R5s with 3GB RAM, 32GB storage announced


Chinese handset maker Oppo  has silently announced a refreshed version of their thinnest smartphone Oppo R5 dubbed R5s. The new version comes with more RAM and storage capacity, rest of the specs being the same. The phone is listed on company's website and is also being teased on Oppo's Facebook page.

Oppo R5s features 5.2-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display and is equipped with 1.5GHz octa-core (quad-core 1.5GHz ARM Cortex A53 + quad-core 1.0GHz A53) Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. It runs ColorOS 2.0, with Android KitKat as the base and supports 4G LTE, 3G WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GOS connectivity.

For imaging, there is a 13-megapixel auto-focus rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor; f/2.0 aperture, and a LED flash. On the front sits a 5-megapixel shooter with 83-degree wide angle lens for taking selfies. It is fueled by 2000mAh battery, measures 148.9 x 74.5 x 4.85mm, weighs 155g and comes in Grey color.

By comparison the Oppo R5 comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. The Oppo R5 was known for being the thinnest smartphone in the world (4.85mm), before it was dethroned by Vivo X5 Max (4.75mm). At present the thinnest smartphone is Coolpad Ivvi K1 (4.7mm)

Oppo didn't disclose the availability and pricing details of  R5s.
