Xiaomi Mi Mobile MVNO service introduced in China


Xiaomi, apart from launching Mi 4c, also introduced its own wireless carrier, Mi Mobile MVNO service in China under which it will offer affordable mobile plans. With Mi Mobile, Xiaomi enters into an all new segment where it will compete against other China-based carrier.

Xiaomi's MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) service will offer subscribers voice and data services and utilise Chinese Carrier's China Unicom or China Telecom networks. Xiaomi is offering two packages.

The Mi Mobile pay-as-you-go plan, you will be charged CNY 0.10 (Rs. 1.10) per voice minute, SMS and 1 MB data, free incoming calls, no roaming charges in China. The plan supports China Unicom 2G/3G/4G networks. There will be no monthly rental fees with this service. There is also an additional caller ID feature charge for the SIM at CNY 5 per month. Xiaomi says this service is suitable for frequent business travelers and for those who make a lot of long distance calls. This will be available starting September 23.


Under the second package users will get 3GB data bundle for CNY 59 ($9 | Rs. 600) per month. Users will have to pay CNY 0.02 (Rs. 0.30) per data and CNY 0.10 (Rs. 1) per voice minute, SMS or 1MB data (after exceeding 3GB data limit). It supports China Telecom's 2G, 3G and 4G network. This plan will benefit heavy mobile phone users who access internet says Xiaomi. This will be available for public beta in October.

The Mi Mobile SIM card supports standard, micro and nano SIM card sizes and are compatible with all types of smartphones.
