Microsoft Band 2 with curved display announced for $249.99

Microsoft has officially introduced its next generation fitness tracker dubbed as Microsoft Band. at its #Windows10Devices event in New York City. It is sleeker than the original Band and sports a curved display, and comes with 11 advanced sensors.

The new Microsoft Band has a curved OLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen protector. The band is made of a material called TPSiV (thermal plastic elastomer silicone vulcanate).

It comes equipped with a range of sensors including  GPS, UV monitoring, sleep tracking, calorie tracking, guided workouts, smart notifications and a barometer for tracking elevation changes.

Advanced sensors track data specific to running, biking and golfing. Microsoft Health technology gives you actionable insights based on your data. It also has the ability to monitor the maximum amount of oxygen your body can absorb in a minute.

It also features Cortana integration. You will be able to preview emails, get calendar and call alerts, receive text messages and see social updates. You will also be able to reply to the text messages with a quick responses, or dictate a response using Cortana.

Microsoft Band is compatible with Windows Phone, iOS and Android devices. It supports Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and on a single charge runs for 48 hours.

Microsoft Band and Microsoft Health lets you share your activity data with your favorite fitness apps. For this Microsoft  has teamed up with partners like Uber, RunKeeper, Starbucks, Subway, Lose it, MyFitnessPal, Twitter and Facebook.

The new Microsoft Band is priced at $249.99 and will be available available for pre-order in the U.S starting today. It will start shipping from October 30.
