OnePlus tests pizza style local delivery in Bengaluru; schedules an event on Oct 12 to announce ‘The Next Big Step’

OnePlus India has partnered with Blowhorn, a Bengaluru based intra-city logistics marketplace startup for a new promotional offer for Bengaluru.

People in Bengaluru can order the OnePlus One and get it delivered at their doorstep in 60 minutes. If it is not delivered within 60 minutes, OnePlus will give away the OnePlus One to the customer for free. Users will need to download Blowhorn's mobile app from the Google Play Store, place an order through the app, and upon acceptance, the 60 minute timer will kick off and Blowhorn will deliver the order to your doorstep within 60 minutes.

The promotional order is running for only three days- October 8, 9 and 10. OnePlus said that the project is rolled out in Bengaluru as a pilot and will soon expand to other major cities across the country.

Vikas Agarwal, General Manager India commented on the offer, “Can you ever imagine receiving a smartphone in about the same time as you order a pizza? At OnePlus, we think it’s possible. Therefore we are daring ourselves this time to deliver the original flagship - The OnePlus One - to our fans in Bengaluru who wish to own the phone, within the guaranteed 60 minutes or give it away for free.”

Mithun Srivatsa from Blowhorn further, said: "We are super excited about partnering with a premium phone brand such as OnePlus. The novelty of this promotion is that we being their delivery partner, have zero margin for delays or errors in delivery of the OnePlus One handsets. Needless to say, we are honoured to be trusted to make this a reality and not disappoint OnePlus’ fans who will be eager to own their OnePlus One handset within 60 minutes of placing the order."

OnePlus India has also scheduled an event on October 12 in Bengaluru. It is not yet known what exactly OnePlus is planning to annouce. The invite reads OnePlus will “reiterate the relevance of Indian market in the OnePlus growth story and announce The Next Big Step." OnePlus CEO Pete Lau will also be present at the event to announce the company’s plans for India.

My guess, the announcement could be related to "Make in India initiative"
