Google's $200 Asus OnHub has Wave Control feature for boosting WiFi speed
Earlier this week Google outed a new member to it OnHub router family. The search giant in partnership with Asus introduced the Asus OnHub, the second WiFi router device in the OnHub series. The first router was launched in August, Google partnered with TP-Link.
The Asus OnHub has the same cylindrical design as the TP-Link OnHub, but has a slightly bigger or wider base instead. Apart from being fast, secure and easy to use, Asus OnHub has a new Wave Control feature which lets you boost the WiFi speed for a particular device by simply waving your hand over the top of the router.
The router connects to Android and iOS devices via Google's On app to run network checks and keep track of bandwidth use.
As for the specs, the Asus OnHub smart WiFi router supports wireless speed of up to 190Mbps and comes with 7 smart dual-band antennas. It is equipped with dual-core 1.4GHz processor and features Bluetooth Smart and Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity with Gigabit Ethernet Wan port, Giagabit Ethernet LAN port and a USB 3.0 port. It has an speaker and an LED light ring at the base indicating different network status with different colors. There is also a proximity sensor.
The Asus OnHub is up for pre-order in the U.S for $219.99 via Google's own online store, Amazon and Newegg.
