Samsung W2016 flip phone is now official

Samsung has introduced their latest smartphone with a clamshell design, the W2016 with dual display in China. It sports a design that took its cues from the Galaxy S6 — only in the form of a clamshell. It also packs beefy internals under the hood. The design which we can see taken from the Galaxy S6 are the aluminum frame along with the curved metal back and the metallic finish.

The Samsung W2016 sports  dual 3.9-inch (1280 x 768 pixels) Super AMOLED displays, so that you can use the phone even when its's closed. You can also flip open to the other screen with a T9 numeric keypad. Inside there is a 2.1GHz octa-core 64-bit Exynos 7420 processor with 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop.

For imaging, it is equipped with 16-megapixel rear camera accompanied by LED flash, the same used in Galaxy S6 and 5-megapixel front facing camera. On the connectivity front it supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 ac (2 X 2 MIMO) and Bluetooth 4.2 LE & apt-X. It is backed by 2000mAh battery and comes with fast wired and wireless charging features.

The Samsung W2016 comes in Silver and Golden colors. No details about the pricing or availability yet. Also not known whether the W2016 will be available outside China.
