Coolpad to make one million 'Made in India' phones in H1 2016
Back in October Coolpad revealed its plans for expanding its business in India. The Chinese smartphone maker had announced that it will invest over $300 million in Manufacturing, R&D and ID design in the country.
Now, Coolpad has confirmed its plans and announced that it will manufacture one million 'Made in India' Coolpad handsets in the country in H1 2016. The handsets will be manufactured at Videocon's facility situated in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Coolpad said that such projects will bring big business and employment opportunities in the country.
The company also said the Coolpad Note 3 is "definitely a notch above competition" and is the No. 1 bestseller smartphone on Amazon India even after over two months of its launch. To recap the Coolpad Note 3 was launched in India in October and is the cheapest phone to be equipped with fingerprint scanner.
Coolpad alongside launched a new Black edition of Coolpad Note 3 exclusively for the Indian market and is now exclusively available on Amazon India at Rs. 8,999. It features a 5.5-inch 720p display, 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 SoC with Mali T720 GPU, 3GB RAM, 16GB expandable storage, 13-megapixel rear (w/ LED flash), 5-megapixel front facing camera, fingerprint sensor and a 3000mAh battery. It supports 4G LTE connectivity and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Cool UI 6.0 on top.
