Microsoft Band 2 adds music control, activity reminders, improved exercise tile

Microsoft has rolled out a bunch of new features in its latest update to the Microsoft Band 2. The new features include an all-new music controls, activity reminders and an improved exercise tile.

With the all-new music control feature, user can now control their music from the Microsoft Band 2. The screen displays the song title and lets you play and pause, skip forward and back, and turn the volume up and down. Spotify or any other music app you use on your phone will connect to the band via Bluetooth

Now, if users have been still or sitting for too long, Microsoft Band will notify them reminding them to move. Users can also set a time period, when they don't want to receive reminders, like when they're driving or sleeping.

With the Exercise Tile, users can choose their favorite exercises like yoga or weightlifting or create their own type of exercise, and track calories burnt, heart rate and duration of the exercise. After the exercise session, when you review it in the Microsoft Health app or Web Dashboard, summaries and observations will be grouped by exercise type for better insights into your performance.

The Microsoft Band 2 was launched in October at Microsoft's Windows10Devices event. The band features a curved OLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and comes equipped with a range of fitness tracking sensor. It comes with Cortana integration and on a single charge runs for 48 hours. The Microsoft Band 2 is now available for $250 at Microsoft retail stores, MicrosoftStore.com and other third-party retailers.
