Moto G (3rd gen) receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in U.S and Canada
Motorola has started pushing out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the 3rd gen Moto G (unlocked variant XT1540). The update is rolling out over-the-air in the U.S and Canada currently only for unlocked and SIM-free (XT1540) variant, with more regions expected to follow shortly.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update v24.11.25 for the 3rd gen Moto G measures 2GB in size and brings all the features included in Android Marshmallow including revamped app permissions, Google Now on Tap feature, Android Pay mobile payment system, and new fingerprint APIs for developers among others. The update also includes the Android security update for December.
The 3rd gen Moto G which was launched in India in July is considered to be one of the best value-for-the money smartphone of 2015. The specs include 5-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 SoC with Adreno 306 GPU, 1GB / 2GB RAM, 8GB / 16GB internal storage, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 4G LTE support and 2740mAh battery.
The Moto X Style, Moto X Pure Edition, Moto X Play and Moto X 2nd gen have already started receiving Marshmallow update in some regions. Motorola also announced that it will roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to 2nd gen Moto E, but only in select regions including Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia (excluding China). No time-frame was mentioned.
