Xiaomi Redmi 3 with metal body gets TENAA approval
Last month Xiaomi introduced the Redmi Note 3 with metal body and now a new Xiaomi smartphone with similar unibody metal build dubbed Redmi 3 has been certified by Chinese certification and regulatory authority TENAA outing specifications and product shots.
The design of the Redmi 3 is similar to the Redmi Note 3, but with the absence of fingerprint sensor on the back. It measures 8.5mm around the waist making it slightly thinner than the Redmi Note 3.
As per TENAA listing, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 features 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 617 SoC with Adreno 405 GPU, instead of MediaTek Helio X10 on the Redmi Note 3. It is coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, which can be topped via microSD card up to 32GB. For photography, there is 13- or 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording capabilities. Front facing snapper is 5-megapixel. The dual-SIM phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop based MIUI 7 and supports 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS connectivity. It is fueled by 4000mAh battery.
The Redmi 3 measures 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5mm, weighs 143g and is expected to come in Dark Grey, Silver and Champagne Gold colors. It is expected to be priced at CNY 599 ($90 | Rs. 6,100) and released in February 2016, which coincides with Chinese New Year.
