Xiaomi Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in 'final testing stage'
Xiaomi will soon release Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates for select smartphones including Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note. According to MIUI operations manager, the Android Marshmallow update is in the final stages of testing and will be rolled out soon in the coming days.
A Weibo user shared a screenshot of the latest update with MIUI 7 on it, which shows the MIUI 5.12.24 update based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and weighing 518MB.
Many of Xiaomi smartphones are still stuck on the dated Android 4.4 KitKat, even after releasing the MIUI 7. Xiaomi says that the base version of the OS has the same features as the MIUI 7. The argument is legit, but it loses steam as some apps from Play Store runs only on Android Lollipop and newer versions.
Now it looks like the Xiaomi devices will be directly update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The update is currently in beta stage, and will hit the developer version to shape up as a stable OTA update, before being rolled out to the public. It is worth noting that users stay away of the beta version when released which includes bugs and is meant for experimental purpose, mainly used by developers. It's best to wait for a stable OTA update.
It is not clear exactly when Xiaomi will begin the roll out for the said device, and if the international users will receive the new OS alongside the China version.
