YU Yutopia with 5.2-inch QHD display, SD 810, 4GB RAM gets official
Micromax subsidiary YU Televentures known for its cheap budget smartphones like the Yureka, Yunique and Yuphoria, has entered the high-end market segment, with the launch of Yutopia, the company's first premium flagship boasting powerful innards.
The YU Yutopia is made with aircraft-grade aluminum, and measures just 7.2mm around the waist. It sports a 5.2-inch QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) OGS display protected by Corning Concore Glass. Inside there is a octa-core Snapdragon 810 64-bit processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU and 4GB DDR4 RAM. On-board storage is 32GB, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.
For photography, the Yu Yutopia is equipped with Sony made 21-megapixel rear camera (Exmor RS IMX230 sensor) with true tone dual-LED flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), 5P lens and OIS. For clicking selfies you get a 8-megapixel front camera. The rear camera is capable of recording 4K videos.
The dual-SIM phone supports 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It is fueled by a 3,000mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 tech which can charge from 0 to 60 percent in 30 minutes. The Yutopia also has a fingerprint sensor at the back and the audio is powered by Smart PA TFA9887, DTS and Tri-Mic technology for Stereo Recording and Active Noise Cancellation.
On the software front, the Yutopia runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based on Cyanogen OS 12.1. It comes pre-loaded with a new service called Around Yu that lets you instantly search for and access food, cabs, shopping, flights and more without having to download any specific apps. Yu said that Gaana will be the default music player. You will also get a six-month subscription to the music streaming service Gaana.
The YU Yutopia is priced at Rs. 24,999 and comes bundled with House of Marley Little Bird In-Ear Headphones in the box. It is now available for order exclusively on Amazon India and will be shipped from December 26. Unfortunately, Yu said that, the stocks of Yutopia are limited.
YU also stated that users who choose to pay by EMI will get 40% cashback of value of Yutopia, if the customer decides to exchange Yutopia and upgrade to Yutopia 2.
