All 2016 Moto smartphones will have fingerprint scanners
Lenovo SVP Chen Xudong in an interview with Chinses publication Tech Sina, shared some details about Motorola’s plans for 2016.
Xudong said that all Motorola smartphone, launching this year will come embedded with fingerprint sensor, a feature that was absent for the brand's smartphone that were launched last year. The use of the word 'embedded' could mean that the phones could use Qualcomm's ultrasonic scanners which do not require buttons or sensors, instead can be embedded in the screen.
It is worth noting that some of the first smartphones with fingerprint sensor were launched by Motorola - the Atrix 4G, being one of them. However, the company didn't embrace this technology for all of its future devices.
He further added that, all Motorola phone will feature a display size of at least 5-inches and up. As for the design, the upcoming Moto branded smartphone will receive tweaks in design to better suit the customers from both eastern and western parts of the world.
Also Lenovo and Moto's UI will be merged into a brand new UI that is expected in 2017. Following up on Lenovo's recent announcement, Xudong added that Moto branding will be used on high-end smartphone, while the company's Vibe series will target budget smartphone segment. Overall Lenovo plans to launch more than 15 smartphone under the Moto and Vibe series.
Recently Motorola revealed that their future smartphones will be released under the "Moto by Lenovo" branding.
