Xiaomi Mi 5 rumored to come in two variants - Full HD and QHD


There have been plenty of rumors about Xiaomi's Mi flagship and as the launch nears, we will be treated to some more. The latest rumor/report coming out of China, suggests that the Mi 5 will launch in two variants.

The first model will come with 2.5 curved glass on both the sides and will have metal frame. This model will sports a Full HD (1080 display) while the second model is said to pack an all-metal construction with a QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display. Both models will have the same screen size. 

An earlier report suggested that the Mi 5 will come in two RAM/ROM variant. While it isn't mentioned, we can expect the Full HD model to comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and the QHD model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Mi 5 will be powered by Snapdragon 820. This is the only confirmed spec of the flagship.

Recently, Xiaomi Co-Founder and Senior VP Laiwan Jiang revealed that the Mi 5 will be launched  after Spring Festival/Chinese New Year, a 15 day festival, which starts on February 8. He also said that the Mi 5 has entered mass production and the company is making sure that there are enough units available for consumers when the phone finally launched. He also revealed that the Mi 5 will be powered by Snapdragon 820.

Based on previous leaks, the Mi 5 is said to feature 5.2-inch display and sport a 16-megapixel rear camera, while the front shooter will be 13-megapixel. It is said to run MIUI 7 based on Android Marshmallow and fueled by 3060mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. There will also be a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home screen.
