Xiaomi Mi 5 real-life photo surfaces


Xiaomi has been very careful with its flagship Mi 5. The much anticipated phone was supposed to release last year, but after delay, it will finally see the light of  day on February 24. We have already heard lot of rumors and seen leaked images of the Mi 5 and now a new leaked live photo of the Mi 5 has surfaced that reveals the design and key specifications.

The photo shows the front side of Mi 5 with display, MIUI icons, user interface and a physical home button which also doubles as fingerprint scanner. The Mi 5 appears to have a thinner bezel and a 2.5D curved glass.

The Mi 5 seen in the photo runs Xiaomi's MIUI build 7.6.2.1 interface on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Other specs revealed are the processor, which is no doubt is the Snapdragon 820 SoC, clocked at 2.1GHz. It also shows the handset packing 3GB RAM and 64GB storage (52.03 user accessible).

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be introduced at an event in China on February 24. Xiaomi will also showcase the Mi 5 at MWC 2016 as well.

Xiaomi teases transparent protective case for Mi 5


Xiaomi's flagship Mi 5 will be presented at an event in China, and MWC 2016 on February 24. Ahead of the presentation, the Chinese smartphone maker has teased a clear protective case for the Mi 5. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has also sent out invites for the Mi 5 launch event in China. (above)

The brand says that the case will be just 0.45mm thick and also revealed that the camera will be present on the left corner, while the USB Type-C port will be on the bottom with dual speakers. Hence putting an end to the rumor and confirming the Mi 5 will have USB Type-C.

Xiaomi has already confirmed some of the the features of Mi 5. Li Wanqiang has already confirmed that the Mi 5 will not have 2K display, instead will comes with a 1080p display, the reason being, high battery consumption. Also the Mi 5 will come with 16-megapixel rear camera (confirmed by Hugo Barra), dual SIM and NFC connectivity.




The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be introduced on February 24 at an event in China National Convention Center at 14:00 China time (11am IST). It will also be showcased at MWC 2016 and the event will be invitation-only media preview.

Xiaomi Mi 5 could come with Windows 10 Mobile variant


We've come across so many rumors of Xiaomi's flagship Mi 5, and now a new rumor coming out of China suggests that Xiaomi might launch a Windows 10 Mobile variant of its upcoming flagship Mi 5, just like the Mi Pad 2, which came in two OS versions - Android and Windows 10.

Apart from the OS, the rest of the specification of the Windows 10 variant would stay the same as the Android variant. This is not surprising, given the history of both Microsoft and Xiaomi. Although the Xiaomi Mi 4 did not come with a production version of Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft released a Windows Mobile ROM for it, and as mentioned above, the Mi Pad 2 comes with a Windows 10 version as well.

The Mi 5 will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 and if the rumor turns out to be true, Xiaomi will become the first smartphone maker to launch a Snapdragon 820 powered Windows 10 Mobile

Xiaomi will launch the Mi 5 at an event in Beijing, China on February 24. On the same day, Xiaomi will also show off the Mi 5 at MWC 2016.

Xiaomi Mi 5 will be shown off at MWC 2016; retail box, screenshot surfaces


Xiaomi's flagship Mi 5 is one of the most highly anticipated smartphone. Details of the phones were revealed in various leaks. The only thing confirmed of the Mi 5 is the launch event, which is scheduled for February 24 in China, and the processor it will utilise, the Snapdragon 820. 

Now in the latest leak an alleged retail box of the Mi 5 has surfaced online that tips color variants, also, alleged screenshot of the device surfaced online, which has revealed few specifications of the phone. 

The Xiaomi's Mi 5 retail box suggests that the device will comes in Gold, White, Black and Pink color options. The choice of pink should appeal to the female fans. 

The box also has the image of the Mi 5 that shows, the device having a physical home button, just like the Samsung Galaxy S series, which is said to have a fingerprint sensor embedded into it. The leaked screenshot suggests that the Mi 5 will have dual-SIM functionality and support NFC connectivity.

According to rumors, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch Quad HD display, 16MP rear & 8MP front camera, 3000mAh battery, 16/64GB storage and 4GB RAM.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi's Global VP, Hugo Barra announced that the company, for the first time ever will showcase its product, the Mi 5 of Feb. 24 at MWC 2016, Barcelona as well. He also confirmed that the event will be invitation-only media preview.

"We're holding an invitation-only media preview on February 24, the very same day of our launch event in Beijing, and I'll be on stage,", Bara said in a Facebook post.

So far, Asia has been the biggest market for Xiaomi, and we can expect this to be an indication that Xiaomi is planning to release new flagship in Western market. Xiaomi is already selling its product in Brazil, and has launched online accessory store in the U.S and key European countries in an attempt to expand Western markets.

Xiaomi Mi 5 announcement set for February 24


The Xiaomi Mi 5 is one of the most anticipated smartphone we have been hearing a number of rumors of it for quite sometime now. Earlier this month Xiaomi Co-Founder and Senior VP Laiwan Jiang revealed that the Mi 5 will launch after Chinese Spring Festival, without giving out a specific date.

Now Liwan Jiang has announced on his official Weibo account that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be announced at the company's Spring Conference in Beijing on February 24. He also shared that more info about the event will be made public on January 26.

"February, 2016 millet new spring conference, that is, we look forward to the # 5 # millet, particularly ticket sales and the rules, the next Tuesday!" reads Liwan Jiang's post on Weibo.

As for the specification, according to rumor mill, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will arrive in two models. The standard model will sport 5.1-inch 1080p display, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, while the premium model will sport 5.1-inch 2K display, 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. This will be the only differentiating factor for the two models, while rest of the specs will remain same.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a physical home button, which also doubles as a fingerprint scanner and will sport a dual 2.5D arc glass with metal strap round the edges, which is similar to Samsung Galaxy flagship devices. The rear camera will have 16-megapixel sensor, while the front facing camera is 8-megapixel. Other rumored features include USB Type-C, dual SIM, 4G LTE & VOLTE and MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and 3600mAh battery with fast charge support.

Xiaomi has always priced its mobile products aggressively, be it in the mid-range segment or high-end segment, so we can expect a similar strategy this time as well.

Xiaomi Mi 5 rumored to come in two variants - Full HD and QHD


There have been plenty of rumors about Xiaomi's Mi flagship and as the launch nears, we will be treated to some more. The latest rumor/report coming out of China, suggests that the Mi 5 will launch in two variants.

The first model will come with 2.5 curved glass on both the sides and will have metal frame. This model will sports a Full HD (1080 display) while the second model is said to pack an all-metal construction with a QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display. Both models will have the same screen size. 

An earlier report suggested that the Mi 5 will come in two RAM/ROM variant. While it isn't mentioned, we can expect the Full HD model to comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and the QHD model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The Mi 5 will be powered by Snapdragon 820. This is the only confirmed spec of the flagship.

Recently, Xiaomi Co-Founder and Senior VP Laiwan Jiang revealed that the Mi 5 will be launched  after Spring Festival/Chinese New Year, a 15 day festival, which starts on February 8. He also said that the Mi 5 has entered mass production and the company is making sure that there are enough units available for consumers when the phone finally launched. He also revealed that the Mi 5 will be powered by Snapdragon 820.

Based on previous leaks, the Mi 5 is said to feature 5.2-inch display and sport a 16-megapixel rear camera, while the front shooter will be 13-megapixel. It is said to run MIUI 7 based on Android Marshmallow and fueled by 3060mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. There will also be a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home screen.

Xiaomi Mi 5 with Snapdragon 820 SoC to launch post Chinese Spring Festival


Following Qualcomm's announcement that Letv Le Max Pro will be the first Snapdragon 820 powered smartphone, Xiaomi has revealed that its flagship, the Mi 5 will pack the Snapdragon 820 SoC as well.

The news was confirmed by Xiaomi Co-Founder and Senior VP Laiwan Jiang via Weibo. He also revealed that the Mi 5 has entered mass production and it will have enough stock at the time of the release. Jiang also revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 5 will launch after the Spring Festival, which starts on Febraury 8 and last 15 days.  

"The Xiaomi Mi 5 with the latest Snapdragon 820 processor is ready and in volume production. It will be released after the Spring Festival to have enough time for stocking up."  read the Weibo post.

According to previous leaks, the Mi 5 features a 5.2-inch display with either Full HD or QHD resolution. It will be equipped with 16-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel front facing camera. It is said to run MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and fueled by 3600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. As per leaked renders the Mi 5 comes with a home button, which doubles as fingerprint sensor.

The Mi 5 is rumored to come in two RAM / ROM models - 3GB RAM w/ 32GB storage, which could be priced CNY 1999 (Rs. 20,000) and 4GB RAM / 64GB storage priced at CNY 2299 (Rs. 23,500). It will be available in Black, Gold, Pink and White colors.

Xiaomi Mi 5 spotted again in new renders and hands-on video


A bunch of press renders and a 27-second hands-on video showing off Xiaomi's upcoming flagship, the Mi 5 has surfaced online.

The press renders show the Mi 5 in four color hues including Black, Gold, Pink and White. As seen in previous leaks, the Mi 5 features a 2.5D curved glass display and 3D glass covering the back panel. The oval-shaped home button below the display doubles up as the finger print sensor. The video of Xiaomi Mi 5 was released on Youku, which is chinese equivalent of YouTube. The video shows the font side of Mi 5 and it sits on a wooden dock. Check out the video here.


Based on previous leaks, Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch 2K display and will be powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 820 SoC aided by Adreno 530 GPU. It is expected to arrive in two variants - 3GB RAM w/ 32GB internal storage and 4GB RAM w/ 64GB internal storage. Other rumored specs include 16MP rear camera, 8MP or 13MP front snapper, Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 7 on top and 3030mAh battery. 

The Xiaomi Mi 5 3GB RAM / 32GB storage model will cost CNY 1999 ($308 | Rs. 20,300) while the 4GB RAM / 64GB model will cost CNY 2299 ($355 | Rs. 24,000). It is expected to go official after April 2016.

Possible Xiaomi Mi 5 renders, live image, specifications, price leaked


Xiaomi has outed a slew of products this year ranging from lifestyle and electronics products to smartphones. Speaking of smartphones the Chinese brand's protfolio included some interesting devices including Mi 4i, Mi 4c, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 3, Mi Pad 2 and Mi Note to name a few. But what was missing is a flagship product, the Mi 5, which is highly anticipated. We have already heard about Xiaomi Mi 5 many times over the past few months and now renders, live images, rumored specs and price has been leaked online.

The new render shows the front panel and the bottom bezel of the Mi 5. Also seen is the slim home button, which doubles up as a fingerprint sensor, below the display, a metal frame design with chamfered edges alongside dual speaker grilles and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. It is also being suggested that Mi 5 will sport 2.5D curved glass sheet on the front an 3D glass covering the back panel.

In addition a new live image claimed to be Mi 5 and patent application for a fingerprint sensor by Xiaomi also surfaced online. As seen in the image, the design of Mi 5 falls in line with the renders, the thin bezels and the home button is clearly visible. 


Apart from the live images two additional image showing a patent filing for Xiaomi fingerprint sensor also surfaced. The only thing we notice is that the fingerprint sensor is embedded in the smartphone display. The drawings shows no home button on the device, hinting that the technology could be used in future model.

The rumored specifications of Mi 5 include 5.2-inch display with either Full HD or QHD resolution, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 3GB / 4GB RAM, 32GB / 64GB internal storage, 16MP rear camera, 13MP front snapper. The Mi 5 is said to run on MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and fueled by 3600mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology.

Coming to the price, the Xiaomi Mi 5 3GB RAM / 32GB storage model will cost CNY 1999 ($308 | Rs. 20,300) while the 64GB storage / 4GB RAM model will cost CNY 2299 ($355 | Rs. 24,000). It is expected to go official after April 2016.

Possible Xiaomi Mi 5 render surfaces, tipped for January 21 launch


Possible render of Xiaomi's upcoming flagship the Mi 5 have surfaced online that shows the front of the phone.

As per the render, the Mi 5 sports a physical home button at the center, making it the first Xiaomi device to feature physical button. The home button which is placed below the display is likely to serve as a finger print scanner.

Along with the render, other details have also been revealed. The Mi 5 said to feature a pressure-sensitive touchscreen, a 3D Touch-like pressure sensitive technology, which is used in Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Xiaomi's flagship will be equipped with Snapdragon 820 SoC and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It will launch in two version, one priced at CNY 1999 (Rs. 20,800) and the other CNY 2499 (Rs. 26,000)

In addition, the leak outs the possible laucnch date of the Mi 5 which is said be January 21 2016, which the actual launch is scheduled sometime in February.

Based on previous leaks the Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport an all metal design and 5.2-inch Quad HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass protection. It will be equipped with 4GB RAM, 21-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front facing camera.

Xiaomi "Gemini" with Snapdragon 820 passes through Geekbench, could be the Mi5


A Xiaomi device codenamed Gemini has been spotted on Geekbench with the codename Xiaomi Gemini and is speculated of being Xiaomi's flagship device the Mi 5.

As per the listing, Xiaomi Gemini is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8996 chipset which is the recently released Snapdragon 820. The Processor which was uploaded on the site is Qualcomm ARMv8 @ 1.59 GHz 1 processor, 4 cores. The processor ID given is ARM implementer 81 architecture 8 variant 1 part 517 revision 1. Also listed is the RAM and OS- 3GB RAM and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. 

The device scored 2,140 points in single-core tests and 4,762 points in multi-core. Unfortunately there are no other details seen on the listing.

Earlier rumors have stated that the Mi 5 will sport a 5.2-inch LCD display having resolution of 1440p and Gorilla Glass Protection with 2.5D effect. Xiaomi's flagship device will be equipped with 16-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel front facing camera. The battery capacity is said to be 3000mAh with quick charging option. Also the device will have USB Type-C port.

Considering that Xiaomi Gemini being powered by Snapdragon 820, this could be Xiaomi's flagship device- the Mi 5. However, it must be noted that the specs are rumored and nothing is yet confirmed by any official source.

Photos of two Xiaomi smartphones surfaces online


Duo of photos showcasing two Xiaomi handsets have surfaced online. There is no word on their name but it is being speculated that one of them is Mi5 and the other Redmi Note 2.

The first leaked photo is speculated to be the Mi 5. It shows the rear side of the phone with an interesting dual camera setup along with dual LED flash. The Mi 5 rumored specs include 5.2-inch screen, Snapdragon 802 processor, 3GB or 4GB RAM, 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS and 3000mAh battery. It is expected to launch in November.


The second photo said to be of Redmi Note 2, shows a fingerprint sensor on the back of the handset, right under its camera and LED flash. The handset appears to be built from plastic material and not metal. The Redmi Note 2 rumored specs include 5.5-inch 1080p display, an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 CPU, 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera and 4G LTE support.

Xiaomi's product roadmap leaked, reveals four new smartphones


Xiaomi has recently launched two new smartphones, the Mi 4i in India and Mi Note Pro in China. Now a leaked product roadmap reveals that the company is set to release a handful of devices in the coming months.

The leaked product map reveals that Xiaomi will announce four new devices in the coming months, namely, Xiaomi Mi 4s, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 2 Pro and Mi 5. Also revealed was the launch date an the specs of these smartphones.

The first in line is Mi 4s which will launch in June. The Mi 4s will feature 5-inch Full HD display, 13-megapixel OIS rear camera, 4-megapixel Ultrapixel front shooter. It will be powered by Snapdragon 810 processor.



Next in line are the successor to the Redmi Note which will come in two models - Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Pro. Both devices will launch in July. The Redmi Note 2 will sport a 5.5-inch HD display and powered by Snapdragon 410 processor. It will come equipped with 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front facing camera.

The Redmi Note 2 Pro on the other hand features 5-inch Full HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 4G LTE-enabled processor, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front facing camera.

The last device, the roadmap suggests is Xiaomi Mi 5, which will arrive in November. It will sport 5.2-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 820 processor, 20-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front facing camera.

The launch time-frames mentioned of Xiaomi's Mi 4s, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 2 Pro and Mi 5 are for China region and is not for the rest of the world.

Possible specs of Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 5 Plus leaked; reportedly coming in July


New details of Xiaomi's upcoming flagship Mi 5 have surfaced online via Chinese social media website Weibo. According to the report Xiaomi Mi 5 will be launched in July alongside a bigger variant dubbed Mi 5 Plus.

According to the leaked details, the Mi 5 features a 5.2-inch display (unknown resolution) and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3GB or 4GB RAM. The phone will come equipped with 16-megapixel OIS camera and will be fuelled by 3000mAh battery.

The Mi 5 Plus on the other hand is rumored to sport a 6-inch bezel-less edge-to-edge display with quad-HD resolution (2,560x1,440 pixels). It will come with 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage and 16-megapixel camera with OIS will handle the rear camera department. It will pack a bigger battery to push the extra pixels.

In addition recent reports have indicated that Xiaomi's upcoming flagship smartphone will have finger print sensors. A Xiaomi's patent detailing fingerprint recognition method via phones button was spotted at China's State Intellectual property office. The paten filing document read-

"The device comprises a bottom fingerprint sensors and optical sensor provided in the terminal equipment of the cover glass; fingerprint identification circuit connected fingerprint sensor for fingerprint recognition sensor and the fingerprint information analysis and processing, obtain fingerprint analysis ; host processor, and an optical sensor and fingerprint identification circuit connections for the monitored optical sensor light information received to determine whether cover glass touch button operation; identity authentication based on fingerprint analysis results obtained fingerprint identification circuit."

We suggest that all these leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt, since nothing is officially confirmed yet.

Possible Images Of Xiaomi Mi 5 Leaked, Along With AnTuTu Score

 Xiaomi is expected to release its next flagship at an event on Thursday. Earlier leaks indicate the Chinese company will launch the Mi 5.

Now more information of the Mi 5 have leaked. A chinese publication posted possible images of the alleged Mi 5 smartphone. In the images ,the Mi 5 can be seen sporting a sleek design and is built with plastic.

Other image shows the Mi 5 running benchmark app via AnTuTu, and scores an impressive 46,866. In one of the image the benchmark app shows the Mi 5 running quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset. Another image shows a benchmark chart of the Mi 5 and is seen scoring more that OnePlus One, HTC M8, Xiaomi Mi 4 and Mi 3, Samsung Galaxy S5, Google Nexus 5 and LG G3.

Xiaomi is teasing that its next flagship will be sleek. It posted a 15-second video on Facebook that teased what to expect from the flagship device. The short clip included incomplete sentences such as "As _ as paper", "The _ the better," and "As _ as a bell." The missing words are thin, bigger and curved.

Its not yet sure which handset will be revealed by Xiaomi. At the moment all hints point towards three handsets - Mi 5, Redmi Note 2 and Mi Pad 2. For recap, along with the Qualcomm 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera.

Xiaomi's Next Flagship Expected To Launch At An Event In Beijing On January 15

Xiaomi has shared an invite to an event in Beijing, China on January 15 where the company is expected to launch its next flagship device - the Xiaomi Mi 5.

The Tagline on the invite reads "Xiaomi new flagship lauunch" which is being expected to be the Mi 5. Also Xiaomi shared a post titled "Xiaomi Next Flagship Device to be Released on 15 Jan. What is it? What is it as thin as cicada's wings?".
Also revealed is a poster, when translated says that the device will be thinner than the wings of cicada, which is an insect common in China.

Based on previous leaks there are two rumored devices to be the Mi 4 successor - Mi 5 and MiPad 2 Tablet. The Mi 5 will feature a 5.7-inch Quad-HD display; a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor; 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera. On the other hand the MiPad 2 tablet will sport a 7.9-inch display, 2GB of RAM; 16GB of built-in storage, and MIUI skinned on top of Android 4.4.4 KitKat.

The event will take place at 2PM local time at the Beijing National Convention Center. 1000 press conference tickets will be available for sale via Xiaomi's Mall App. The ticket will go on sale starting January 8 priced at 99 Yuan ($16 ; Rs. Rs. 1000).

Possible Images And Specs Of Xiaomi Mi 5 And MiPad 2 leaked

Earlier this year various reports directed towards Xiaomi working on the successors of the Mi 4 smartphone and Mi Pad tablet - The Mi 5 and Mi Pad 2 tabet. Now possible details and images of the devices have been leaked online.

From the purported image it appears that the Mi 5 will sport a large screen and is likely to use a sapphire glass display.  Other details of the Mi 5 include a 5.7-inch Quad-HD display, a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera.

The next gen Xiaomi MiPad 2 tablet images has also appeared online. Reports speculate that the images could be fake as there is no Mi branding on the tablet. Coming to the Specs, the tablet will feature a 7.9-inch display and powered by a 1.8GHz Intel processor paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The Tablet will run Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI on top.

There is no word on the launch date of the devices.However, rumors say that the devices are expected to be launched at CES 2015, Las Vegas in January.
