Android based Remix OS 2.0 now available for download for PCs and Macs
Jide's Android based Remix OS 2.0 for PCs is now available for download. The Remix OS is a custom version of Android designed to make Google’s mobile OS behave like a desktop OS. It has been tweaked to work on PCs and includes new UI, responds to left-right mouse clicks and even lets you use keyboard shortcuts.
Other features included are resizable windows, Maximize/Minimize, start menu, taskbar, system tray, notification tab, file manager and multi-windows features allowing you to run multiple apps sisde by side like you would on Windows or Mac.
The Remix OS 2.0 can be installed on x86-supported (32-bit system architecture) PCs/Laptops. The system image can be downloaded from Jide's website here. You will need a USB 3.0 flash drive that supports FAT32, with a minimum storage capacity of 8GB and a recommended writing speed of 20MB/s. This is an Aplha version inteneded for developers so there might be some bugs. You will also be able to download the version with Google Apps from here
Follow the Instructions below to install Remix OS on your PC/Laptop
- Download Remix OS for PC package and then unzip the file.
- Insert flash drive to your PC.
- Open Remix OS USB Tool and follow the instructions to burn the flash drive.
- Reboot your PC.
- Press F12(PC)/Option(Mac) while booting and enter Boot Menu.
- Select “USB Storage Device” as boot option under Legacy Mode.
- Select either “Guest Mode” or “Resident Mode” to start Remix OS.
