Gionee Marathon M5 mini with 2GB RAM, 4000mAh battery announced


The Gionee Marathon M5 family gets a new member. The Chinese brand known for its battery-centric smartphones has launched the Gionee M5 mini in Nigeria. This is the fourth Gionee Marathon M5 smartphone, the other three being the regular Marathon M5, M5 Plus and M5 Lite.

The phone sports a full metal body and comes with a massive 4000mAh battery that promises two weeks of standby time, 22 hours of audio playback and 18 hours of talk-time. The device supports reverse charging technology, which means that the Marathon M5 mini doubles as a power bank and can charge other phones with OTG cable.

“The 4000mAh battery power is designed to last three to four days when fully charged, in addition to having the capacity to charge four other phones,” the company said in a statement.

The Gionee Marathon M5 mini features a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display and is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor with Mali-T720 GPU, 2GB RAM and 16GB on-board storage, which can be increased up to 128GB via microSD card. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Amigo UI 3.1 on top.

It sports 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and can record 1080p video. Front facing shooter is 5-megapixel. In terms of connectivity the device supports 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG.

The Gionee Marathon M5 mini comes in Golden color, unfortunately, there is no pricing and availability details.
