Sony outs OTG flash drives with Type-C and Type-A connectors


Sony has released a portable OTG flash drive that can be used with both traditional USB-A connectors and the newer USB-C ports as well. The new drives will fall under the USB CA1 series from Sony.

Sony says that the CA1 series utilizes "dual connectors" (USB Type-C and Type-A), allowing it to support Windows, Mac, Android and Chromebook devices.

The flash drive comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage capacities and supports USB 3.1 Gen1, which offers data transfer speeds (read) of up to 130MB/s.

The drives sports a sleek metal design with a silver matte finish and weighs around 5g without the silicon sleeve. They come with protective cases which has lanyard eyelets.

Pricing is yet to be announced, but they will be available starting from February 2016.
