Amazon India no longer offering refunds on mobile phone purchases
Amazon India has made changes to its return policy for mobile phones. Staring today, the company will no longer be offering returns and refunds on mobile phones. As per Amazon's new policy returns, buyers will be eligible for getting their phone replaced only if its is defective, damaged or missing.
The replacement of defective and damaged mobile phones will only be available for a period of 10 days from delivery of product. As per Amazon India's return policy page, the new refund policy is applicable to mobile phones fulfilled by Amazon, and does not apply to any other products. Amazon has also removed the “no longer needed” option for buyers specifically for mobile phone purchases.
Under the new policy change, Amazon India states that, “All mobile phones that are fulfilled by Amazon, purchased on or after 7th February 2016, will have a replacement only policy. Mobile phone items that are fulfilled by Amazon will no longer be eligible for refunds. In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone, you will be eligible for a free replacement."
The reason for Amazon to make this move is because, buyers were abusing the mobile return policy, which was becoming a problem for Amazon India and its sellers. Many people would buy the latest mobile phones, use it for a couple of days, and return it, even when the product had no problem. The company had to bear all the additional shipping costs, while sellers had to fend for the returned stocks.
