Facebook Messenger to get SMS integration, multiple accounts support

Facebook is bringing back SMS support feature to its Messenger app. In 2013, the Messenger app had the ability to send and receive SMS messages, but was later removed by Facbook as it failed to take off. Now. the social networking giant is reportedly testing SMS integration on Messenger app on a limited number of Android users.

This will once again allow users to send and receive the message within the app. This will be an optional feature and can be disabled in settings. Also, the SMS messages will be purple in color instead of the regular blue, this could be for differentiating the messages. The feature is currently is being tested with limited Android users in the U.S, and there is no word when it'll have a wider roll out.

Apart from testing SMS integration, Facebook will also bring support for multiple accounts for Messenger app for Android. With this feature, you will be able to manage multiple accounts without constantly logging in and out of the app from a single device.. To use this feature, you'll need to open account settings in Messenger and add users. Recently, Instagram also added support for multiple accounts.
