Jet Airways will soon offer WiFi-based in-flight content streaming service for passengers

Jet Airways will soon introduce a new WiFi based in-flight streaming service for passengers. The streaming service will debut on the Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft in the Jet Airways fleet starting Q2 2016.

The airline will offer in-flight entertainment and enable passengers to stream their selection from a range of multilingual content available inboard to their WiFi enabled personal devices including smartphone, tablets and laptops. The in-flight entertainment contents include movies, TV programmes, wider genre of music, interactive games, children's programme and more.

The flights will also have full broadband satellite connectivity in the future, that would allow passengers to enjoy services such as internet surfing, e-mail, social media, connecting flight information, instant messaging, real time travel services and destination deals.

The new system has been developed in collaboration with Global Eagle Entertainment Inc. "Once the service is fully rolled out, guests will be able to enjoy a high quality library of audio/video content, a state-of-the-art 3D flight tracker, interactive games, and have access to a wide range of destination information." the company said.

Last year, Jet Airways introduced real time flight status and airfare on twitter, and the it was also the first airline in the country to integrate Google Now. Last month, free high speed public WiFi services were launched in Mumbai Central railway station and Malpe Beach in Udupi, Karnataka, with more to follow in the future.
