Samsung will reportedly unveil the Gear 360 VR camera at its Unpacked event


Samsung has already confirmed that its Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event for #TheNexGalaxy - Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will take place on February 21 in Barcelona. Now according to a new report Samsung will introduce the Gear 360 VR camera at the same event.

The Gear 360 VR is a spherical camera which can capture 360-degree image using two 180-degree fisheye lenses. It can be paired with smartphones via Bluetooth using the Gear 360 Connect app. The report says that the Gear VR 360 camera may be compatible with recent high-end Galaxy devices and the upcoming Galaxy S7.

The camera will also include internal memory, inbuilt storage and comes with its own battery. Some of the camera features include HDR, exposure control, white balance, ISO setting and Liveview option, and include modes like VR view, dual view, panoramic view, time lapse, and looping video.  It will have the functionality to to switch between 180-degree and 360-degree panoramic recording.

The camera will be capable of recording at a maximum resolution of 3840x1920 pixels when shooting in dual lens mode or1920x1920 pixels in single lens mode. A live feed of the camera can be beamed back to connected device.

In 2014, Samsung had announced Project Beyond that was designed exclusively to capture 360 degree videos, and the Gear 360 VR is likely a part of this project.
