Sony announces the SLW-M Series Consumer SSDs
Sony has forayed into the international consumer SSD market with its new SLW-M series drives. Until now the company has been selling consumer SSDs in Japan for sometime.
The SLW-M SSDs come in 7mm, 2.5-inch form factor supporting SATA 3.0 6Gbps interface and comes in two storage models - 240GB (SLW-MG2) and 480GB (SLW-MG4). They are rated to have up to 560MB/s sequential read speed and 530MB/s of sequential write speeds.
The drives are said to feature Phison S10 series controller along with Toshiba A19 TLC NAND Flash memory and a NANYA DDR3L cache chip.
The drives will come bundled with cloning software - Acronis True Image 2015 HD, a 9.5mm spacer and Sony's own SSD ToolBox drive management software to monitor and keep an eye on the drive's health.
Sony is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of the drives.
