Sony unveils Xperia Ear headset, in-car Bluetooth commander and new concept accessories
Besides introducing that new Xperia X range smartphone, Sony also announced the Xperia Ear Bluetooth headset, RM-X7BT in-car Bluetooth commander, and three concept devices - Xperia Eye, Xperia Projector and Xperia Agent.
Sony Xperia Ear
The Xperia Ear is a smart-Bluetooth enabled earbud, powered by Sony's voice technology. It works like a virtual assistant and responds to voice commands. You can ask it to make a call, search the web, send message and navigate to a certain location. It also keeps you up-to-date on the go, by offering information such as schedule, weather and latest news. The accessory connects to the Android smartphone via NFC or Bluetooth. It is IPX2 rated for water protection and promises a full day battery life.
Sony RM-X7BT
The RM-X7BT is an in-car Bluetooth commander that enables wireless music playback, and also uses Sony's voice technology to activate certain smartphone function while driving. It consists of two units - an adapter module that enables wireless audio streaming and hands-free calls, and a commacder that facilitates smartphone functions such as navigation while driving.
Sony Xperia Eye
The Xperia Eye is a 360-degree wearable wide-angle lens camera that can be easily attached to clothing or worn around the neck. With a 360-degree spherical lens, it offers a natural field of view. It is equipped with an intelligent shutter technology that uses facial and voice detection to capture photos.
Sony Xperia Projector
The Xperia Projector can project an interface onto any smooth surface, and responds to touch, voice controls and gestures, just as you would interact with the screen of your smartphone.
Sony Xperia Agent
The Xperia Agent is a voice and gesture controlled accessory, which Sony describes as "vision for personalized assistant". It comes equipped with a built-in camera and projector with the abiliy to identify people and greet them with voice and the device can also control IoT devices. It is also powered by Sony's voice technology and responds to a number of verbal commands.
The Sony Xperia Ear Bluetooth headset and RM-X7BT in-car accessory will go on sale in summer. Sony did not mention when the concept accessories would make it to production.
