CTL J5 is a rugged convertible Chromebook with 360-degree hinge


U.S based CTL, who specialize in the field of education focused Chromebooks has announced the CTL J5 Rugged Convertible Chromebook. As the name suggests CTL's new Chromebook is durable and has a rugged build along with splash resistant and drop resistant design, making it ideal to withstand abuse of classroom use.

It features a 360-degree hinge just like Lenovo's Yoga laptop lineup, that allows it to be used in various mode such as laptop, tablet or tent. It comes with an optional stylus in case students want to sketch or handwrite notes instead of typing.

The CTL J5 sports a 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 IPS display and is powered by Intel (N3050) Braswell processor. The Chromebook comes with 4GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, with microSD card support for storage expansion up to 32GB.

It includes 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port, 720p webcam and 3.5mm headphone/microphone ports, and for connectivity it supports 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.0. Being a Chromebook, the J5 runs Chrome OS and offers 10 hours of usage between charges, which should be enough to last for an entire school day.

The CTL J5 will be priced at $249 and is now up for pre-order at the company website. There are no details on availability.
