Huawei MateBook D gets upgraded with 8th gen Intel Core processors and NVIDIA MX150


Huawei has upgraded the MateBook D laptop in its home market of China with a more powerful processor and graphics card.

The new Matebook D's design is similar to its predecessor, but now offers NVIDIA GeForce MX150 graphics and can be configured with  8th-gen Intel Core i5 processor or an 8th-gen Intel Core i7.

The prices start at CNY 5188 ($790 | Rs. 50,000) for the base model featuring Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage. Then there is a model with Core i5, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD+1TB HDD priced at CNY 5488 ($840 | Rs. 54,000). 

The top end model features Core i7 processor, 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD+1TB HDD, and will set you back by CNY 6688 ($1020 | Rs. 65,400).

All MateBook D models sports 15.6-inch Full HD display and promises up to 10 hours of mixed usage and up to 8.5 hours of video playback on a single charge.

The laptop runs Windows 10 and also includes 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a USB 2.0 port, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI port and Dolby Atmos Sound System.

The Huawei MateBook D is currently available for purchase in China.

Dell launches Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1, Inspiron 15 7000, and Inspiron 13 5000 in India


Following the launch of the updated XPS 13 notebook (8th gen Intel Core chip), Dell India has expanded it Inspiron notebook line up of laptops in India. Three models have been launched: Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 (7373), Inspiron 15 7000 (7570) and Inspiron 13 5000 (5370). And all these run Windows 10 Home and are powered by 8th-gen Intel Core i5/i7 processor.

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 (7373) with Core i5 is priced at Rs. 76,290, while its Core i7 variant costs Rs. 96,190. The Core i5 variant of the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 (7570) carries a price tag of Rs. 77,190, whereas the Core i7 version is priced at Rs. 88,690. The Dell Inspiron 13 (5370) with Core i5 is priced at Rs. 60,690, while its Core i7 variant is priced at Rs. 75,790. The complete specs are listed below:

Dell XPS 13 with 8th Generation Intel Core processors launched in India


Dell has launched the upgraded XPS 13 laptop featuring 8th generation Core chips in India starting at Rs. 84,590. It is now available for purchase via Dell's e-store, Dell Exclusive Stores, Croma and Reliance Digital outlets across the country.

The new Dell XPS 13 has the same near bezel-less design and 13.3-inch borderless Infinity Edge display as the previous model, but will utilize Intel's 8th generation Core i5/i7 KabyLake R processor, instead of 7th generation processor.

The laptop has support for up to QHD+ display, up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB SSD. Dell is offering four models on its eStore and you can check the configurations and pricing below:
  • Rs. 91,990: Full HD display (non-touch), 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U Processor, Windows 10 Pro, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
  • Rs.1,43,990: QHD touch display, 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8550U Processor, Windows 10 Home Plus Single Language, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
  • Rs.1,48,990: QHD+ touch display, 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8550U Processor, Windows 10 Pro, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
  • Rs.1,59,990: QHD+ touch display,  8th Generation Intel Core i7-8550U Processor, Windows 10 Pro, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD
Do note that the configuration of the Rs. 84,590 XPS 13 model is not known. It is likely to have the same configuration as the Rs. 91,990 model, but run Windows 10 Home.

Each model will feature Intel UHD Graphics, backlit keyboard with fingerprint reader, precision touchpad,  HD (720p) webcam, Waves MaxxAudio Pro-tuned stereo speakers, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, 2 x USB 3.0 port, a Thunderbolt 3 port, VGA, HDMI, Ethernet, SD card reader, headset jack and Noble lock slot.

The Dell XPS is made with machined aluminium, carbon fibre, and Corning Gorilla Glass NBT (on touchscreen versions). It weighs at just 1.22kg.

Samsung Notebook 9 Pen and Notebook 9 (2018) announced


Samsung has introduced 2018 models of Notebook 9 series and Note 9 Pen laptops featuring 8th-gen Intel Core processor. These will be showcased at CES 2018, Las Vegas.

The Notebook 9 (2018) series include 13-inch and 15-inch laptops boasting thin bezels, and includes 360-degree hinge to offer tablet mode. It is also lightweight at 995g. Both models comes with fingerprint scanner and 75Wh battery. The bigger 15-inch model comes with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GDDR5 2GB graphic card.

The Notebook 9 (2018) Pen offers the same configuration as Notebook 9 (2018) series, but has 39Wh battery. It also comes with S Pen that can recognize 4096 levels of pressure with a fine 0.7mm tip. When the S-Pen is ejected, the laptop launches S Pen shortcuts, Samsung Notes and Autodesk Sketch book allowing users to take notes or draw immediately.

Samsung said the Notebook 9 (2018) and Notebook 8 Pen will be available in select countries starting with home market Korea this month, followed by US in the first quarter of 2018.

LG will introduce new Gram laptops at CES 2018


LG has announced that it will introduce the next-gen Gram line of laptops at CES 2018, which will be equipped with 8th-gen Intel Core chips. The Gram line up was first introduced back in 2014, and are known for their light-weight design and thin form factor.

The LG Gram 2018 edition includes 13-inch and 14-inch display models that offer Full HD resolution and IPS touchscreen panel with minimal bezels. They are equipped with 8th generation Core i7 and i5 processor and have SSD storage, which offer faster boot times. There's also a secondary SSD storage as well. It will pack 72Wh battery, which promises up to 19 hours of usage time.

LG says that the new gram models are durable enough to use in the most extreme environment. They have carbon magnesium full metal body and have passed seven U.S military MIL-STD 810G durability tests for resistance to impact, pressure and temperature.

Each model will come with backlit keyboard, precision touch pad, fingerprint reader and Thunderbolt 3 ports. They also support DTS Headphone X which provides a multi-channel sound of up to 11.1 channels for rich 1.5W hi-fi surround sound.

The 2018 LG Gram laptop series will be available in the U.S from next month, and will gradually roll out to other markets. Pricing is yet to be announced.

Apple iMac Pro with 27-inch Retina 5K display goes on pre-order in the US from December 14


Apple at its WWDC event in June introduced its most power iMax machine till date, the iMac Pro, and said it will be available in December. 

Now Apple has announced that it will open iMac Pro's pre-order in the U.S starting December 14 (tomorrow). The price starts at $4999 (Rs. 3,22,000) for the base model with  32GB RAM, an 8-core Xeon processor and 1TB storage.

The iMac Pro is an entirely new workstation-class product line designed for pro users with the most demanding workflows like advanced graphics editing, VR content creation and real-time 3D rendering.

It features 27-inch Retina 5K display with support for 1 billion color, up to 18-core Xeon processor (8-core, 10-core 14-core and 18-core) and Radeon Pro Vega GPUup to 22 Teraflops of graphics computation thanks to Radeon GPU (up to 16GB RAM). 

The AIO can be configured with up to 128GB DDR4 EEC RAM (32GB, 64GB or 128GB), 4TB SSD (1TB/2TB/4TB), and each model will have four Thunderbolt 3 ports with support for two 5K displays at the same time. For the first time ever in Mac machine, the iMac Pro gets 10GB Ethernet for up to 10-times faster networking.

It sports the same design as the 27-inch iMac, but comes in Space Grey color, and includes an all-new thermal design to provide up to 80 percent more cooling capacity, in the same slim and thin iMac design.

MSI launches its GV62 line of gaming laptops in India starting at Rs. 79,990


MSI is expanding its gaming laptops line up in India with the launch of GV62 series notebook: GV62 7RD, GV62  7RE and the top model GV62VR 7RF.

As for the pricing, the MSI GV62 7RD model starts at Rs. 79,990, the GV62 7RE at Rs. 1,04,990 and the GV62VR 7RF at Rs. 1,19,990. The gaming machines are backed by two year warranty, and will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

RDP ThinBook 1403p 14-inch budget laptop launched for Rs. 11,999


Home-bred budget laptop maker, RDP has launched a 14-inch laptop in India dubbed ThinBook 1403p.

Running Windows 10, the RDP ThinBook 1403p features 14-inch HD display and is powered by Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor  coupled with 2GB RAM. It comes with 32GB internal storage, and includes microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB).

The laptop includes webcam, dual HD speakers, USB 3.0 port, WiFi, Bluetooth and packs 10000mAh battery, that's rated to deliver up eight hours of run time. It has a slim profile and weighs in at 1.36kg.

The RPD ThinBook 1403p has been priced at Rs. 11,999, and will be available via eCommerce portals such as Amazon India and Flipkart.

HP India refreshes Omen 15 & Omen 17 gaming laptop seires, price starts at Rs. 80,990


HP is expanding its Omen gaming notebook line up in India with the addition of refreshed Omen 15 and Omen 17 models. The new Omen models feature GeForce GTX 10-Series graphic card and have single-access service panel to lets users upgrade RAM and storage (HDD/SDD). 

Prices start at Rs. 80,990 for the base model of Omen 15, and Rs. 1,59,990 for the Omen 17. They are now available for purchase via online and offline stores, and comes bundled with Omen gaming backpack worth Rs. 5,040.

The refreshed HP Omen 15 range includes CE070TX, CE071TX, CE072TX, CE073TX, and CE074TX models. The base model features 15.6-inch Full HD LED backlit display, seventh-generation Intel Core i5-7300HQ processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 RAM (upgradable to 16GB), 1TB HDD and NVIDIA GTX1050 graphics card with 6GB GDDR5 video RAM.

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 gaming laptop, Inspiron 27 7000 AIO PC launched in India


Dell is refreshing its gaming laptop line up in India with the launch of Inspiron 15 7000 (7577) gaming laptop, and Inspiron 27 7000 (7775) All-in-One PC.

Speaking first of the Inspiron 15 7000 (7577), its price starts at Rs. 1,27,390, and and laptop boasts NVIDIA Max-Q design technology, which allows for a slim-gaming laptop with powerful GPU inside.

The Inspiron 15 7000 (7577) features 15.6-inch Full HD LED-backlit IPS display, and is powered by an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor paired to a 16GB DDR4 RAM (up to 32GB) and 6GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics.

The gaming laptop includes a Thunderbolt 3 bot that brings USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C with support for 40Gbps Thunderbolt and DisplayPort. Razer Blade Stealth gets quad-core Kaby Lake-R processor


Razer is upgrading its powerful Blade Stealth gaming ultrabook with a new model, that now comes with eight gen Intel quad-core Kaby Lake-R processors. To remind you, the last upgrade it received was in June to Kaby Lake dual-core processor, and with a larger display size of 13-inch.

The new model still has 13.3-inch 3200 x 1800 IGZO touch display with 170-degree viewing angles and 400 nits of brightness, but is now equipped with Intel i7-8550U quad-core processor, clocked at 1.8GHz, which can be boosted to 4.0GHz. Apart from the processor, everything else is same as the June 2017 model. It comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB PCIe SSD.

Other features include HD camera, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11ac, a headset jack, stereo speakers and backlit keyboard.



Alongside the Blade Stealth, Razer is also upgrading the companion Core external GPU hub, that lets you add your own graphics cards. The new version is called Razer Core V2 and has an updated internal design that can fit a range of taller graphics card. It now supports NVIDIA GeForce 10 series and AMD Radeon 500-series graphics card.

The Core V2 also features dual Thunderbolt 3 internal controller design to allow for more fluid gaming experience by separating the the data for graphics and connected device. The Core V2 also has a four USB 3.0 ports and an Ethernet port.

The new Blade Stealth Kaby Lake-R starts at $1,699, and is now available for purchase in Black and Gunmetal colors, while the Core V2 costs $499. Shipping will begin soon.

The HP ZBook x2 is the world's first detachable workstation


HP has introduced a new 2-in-1 tablet called ZBook x2, and claims it to be the "world's first detachable workstation" designed for creative professionals. It comes with built-in kickstand as well as a detachable keyboard. The keyboard can also be used without being attached to the tablet via Bluetooth and features Quick Keys with 18 adobe app shortcuts.

The HP ZBook x2 tablet has 14-inch LED-backlit anti-glare touch display bearing a screen resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, and can be configured with up to an Intel Core i7-8560U Kaby Lake-R processor and storage options of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB SSD. It packs NVIDIA Quadro graphics and 32GB RAM, which HP claims is twice the memory capacity of any other detachable. 

It comes with 8MP rear camera, 720p front camera, fingerprint scanner and supports digital pen. The digital pen is powered by Wacom EMR technology, and responds instantly with almost zero latency and can detect 4096 levels of pressure. There's no battery in the pen, so it doesn't require charging.

For connectivity there's 2 x Thunderbolt 3 ports, an HDMI 1.4 port, a SD card rear, a headset jack and power connector. The tablet can be connected to up to four external display or two 4K displays.

It is also able to survive drops thanks to the military standard MIL-STD 810G certification and the device is equipped with dual-fan active cooling system, to keep the components inside cool.

HP claims that the 2-in-1 tablet can run for 10 hours on a single charge. There's support for fast charging as well, and promises 50 percent charge in just 30 minutes.

Lava launches 12.5-inch Helium 12 entry-level laptop for Rs. 12,999


Lava forayed into the laptop market earlier this year with the Helium 14. And now it is expanding its Helium laptop line up with a new entry-level model dubbed Helium 12.

The Helium 12 features 12.5-inch HD (1366 x 768 pixels) display and is powered by Windows 10 Home and 1.88GHz quad-core Intel Atom x5-Z8350 Cherry Trial processor paired with Intel HD graphics. It comes with 2GB DDR3 RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded via microSD card, and HDD slot, that supports up to 1TB HDD.

The connectivity duties are handled by a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 port, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth. It is fueled by 10000mAh battery for prolonged usage, and weighs 1.31kg. It also has a webcam for video calling.

The Lava Helium 12 has been priced at Rs. 12,999, and will be available via both online and offline stores in Silver and Gold colors.

HP is launching its new line up of Pavilion Power Windows 10 notebooks in India specifically targeted at creative professionals. The laptop comes in three models, and price starts at Rs. 77,999 for the base model.

The HP Pavilion Power laptops features 15.6-inch Full HD touch display and is powered by seventh-generation quad-core processor from Intel. It packs NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics, 8GB RAM and comes with 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD hybrid storage.

There's also  B&O Play and HP Audio Boost backed stereo speakers for enhanced sound experience, and HP Wide Vision camera for Windows Hello log in.
The keyboard deck comes in Brush Metal finish, and houses backlit keyboard with Acid Green lighting.

The laptop supports fast charging, and promises 90 percentage charge in just 90 minutes, and a battery life of up to 14 hours. It also comes pre-installed with MS Office Hone & Student 2016 Edition with a lifetime subscription of Microsoft Office productivity suite, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS OneNote.

The HP Pavilion Power laptops are available in leading stores across the country in Shadow Black with Acid Green color combination, and comes bundled with HP Odyssey Green and Black backpack.

Lenovo ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 announced


To commemorate ThinkPad's 25th anniversary, Lenovo has introduced a modern incarnation of the classic ThinkPad with retro features. Dubbed ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25, it is a modern take on the original ThinkPad 700C, which was launched in October 5, 1992, and Lenovo says over 130 million units have been sold since. The revamped version of ThinkPad 700C has been in the works for quite some time.

The Lenovo ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 flaunts a classic design and features iconic retro features such as backlit seven-row ThinkPad Classic keyboard, dedicated volume buttons, multiple status LEDs, the classic blue Enter key and a multi-color ThinkPad logo.

In terms of specification, the ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 sports 14-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) touch screen display and is powered by the Intel Core i7-7500U chip. It packs 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics card and 512GB PCIe SSD.

For connectivity, it features  Thunderbolt 3 port, 3 x USB 3.0 ports, a HDMI port, a RJ45 port, a 3.5mm combo audio jack, 4-in-1 card reader, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi 802.11ac. It runs Windows 10 Pro and promises up to 13.9 hours of battery life. There's also stereo speaker, HD webcam, and fingerprint reader and IR camera for Windows Hello log in. The laptop has a thickness of 19.95mm and weighs 1.6kg.

The ThinkPad Anniversary Edition 25 will be available in limited quantities in select countries for $1899 via Lenovo.com and Lenovo's business partners.

HP refreshes Spectre 13 laptop, Spectre x360 convertible with Kaby Lake-R


HP is refreshing its Spectre 13 laptop and Spectre x360 convertible with new models, that is now equipped with 8th generation Intel Core Kaby Lake-R processor. The models prior to this were powered by 7th-generation Kaby Lake processor, however, the latest chip promises improved performance.

The HP Spectre 13 is said to be the world's slimmest laptop with a thickness of just 10.4mm. It features is built from CND aluminum and carbon fibre, and flaunts 13-inch 4K micro-edge display with Gorilla Glass protection. It can be configured with Intel's 8th generation Core i5 or i7 processor, up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD. 

It supports fast charging and promises to provide 50 percent juice with just 30 minutes of charging, while on a single charge it offers up to 11.5 hours of battery life. In terms of connectivity there's Thunderbolt 3 ports, USB Type-C 3.1 port and headphone jack. Other features include HP Wide Vision HR camera for Windows Hello login, dual 4K display support and Bang & Olufsen powered speakers.



The Spectre X360 convertible is claimed to deliver world's longest battery life in a convertible. You should get around up to 16.5 hours of battery life. And since this a convertible, it has a 360 degree hinge, that lets position the device in multiple modes like laptop, tablets, stand and tent. It sports 13-inch micro-edge display with Gorilla Glass protection. It comes with the option of Full HD or 4K display, Intel's 8th-generation Core i5 and Core i7 processor, up to 16GB RAM and up to 1TB SSD. It also includes fingerprint scanner and HP Wide Vision Full HD IR camera with facial recognition.

As for the pricing and availability, the Spectre 13 laptop will be available from October 19 starting at $1299.99 in ceramic white with pale gold accents and dark ash silver with copper accents. The Spectre X360 price starts at $1,149.99 and will be available from October 29 in Silver and dark ash silver with copper accents.

Google PixelBook with Google Assistant, pen support announced


Google at its Pixel 2 event in San Fransisco, announced a high-performance Chromebook called Pixelbook. It is the first Chromebook to feature built-in support for Google Assistant and has a dedicated key to trigger the Assistant. 

It also supports pen input, and flaunts a convertible 360-degree design, that lets the Chromebook to be used in four modes such as laptop, tablet, stand or tent. For example "you can fold the keyboard underneath to easily watch your favorite show, read your favorite book or take notes in tablet mode when you’re on the go, or prop it into tent mode as you follow along with a recipe in the kitchen." 

The Google Pixelbook features 12.3-inch (2400 x 1600 pixel) touchscreen display with 3:2 aspect ratio, and is powered by seventh generation Intel Core i5/i7 processor. It come with the option of 8GB or 16GB RAM, and 128GB/256GB/512GB storage.

Google's Pixelbook has a USB Type-C port that can be used for both data transfer and charging, and there is support for fast charging as well. Google says you should get up to two hours of battery life with a 15 minute charge, and battery life of up to 10 hours on a single charge.

Other features include backlit keyboard, stereo speakers, 720p webcam and 3.5mm audio jack. It has a thickness of 10.3mm and weighs 1.1kg.

There's also an optional Pixelbook Pen, which lets you sketch and write on the screen. It uses machine learning for handwriting recognition, and has 60-degress of angular awareness and 2,000 levels of pressure sensitivity.

Google will offer the Pixelbook in three configurations, with prices starting at $999 in the U.S. The Pixelbook Pen will cost $99. Both will be up for pre-order in the U.S, UK and Canada starting today, and will be available in stores from October 31. The Chromebook will be available from Google Store, and major retailer including Best Buy.

Asus India launches VivoBook S510, ZenBook UX430 Windows 10 laptops


Asus today launched two Windows 10 flagship laptops in India, the ZenBook UX430 and VivoBook S510, boasting Asus' NanoEdge display, which basically means narrow bezel-less display offering a screen to body ratio of about 80 percent. The laptops are also equipped with Intel's eighth generation Kaby Lake-R processors inside. 

Asus VivoBook S15
The VivoBook S15  comes with15.6-inch Full HD NanoEdge display with 178-degree wide angle view. The laptop sports a premium aluminum chassis with metallic gold finish that is just 17.9mm thick and weighs 1.7kg.


It packs NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics and can be configured with up to eight-generation 2.1GHz Intel Core i7-8500U processor, up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, up to 2TB HDD and up to 512GB SDD. For connectivity, there's USB Type-C port, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, a USB 2.0 port, HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.2 and WiFi 802.11ac.

Other features include fast charging, fingerprint scanner with support for Windows Hello, backlit keyboard, and up to eight hours of battery life. Prices start at Rs. 59,999 for the base model featuring Core i5-8250U processor, and will be available for purchase starting October 1 from both online and offline channels.


Asus ZenBook UX430
The ZenBook UX430 feature 14-inch Full HD NanoEdge display with matte anti-glare surface and gives you a brightness of 300 nits with a 100 percent sRGB color gamut. It can be configured with up to eighth generation 2.1GHz Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB of SSD. It comes equipped with NVIDIA's GeForce MX150 GPU to take care of your gaming and other graphics needs, and promises up to nine hours of battery life.


The laptop has sandblasted metal keyboard surface for a premium looks and Harman Kardon powered speakers backed by Asus' Smart Amp amplifying technology. The laptop is just 15.9mm thick and weighs 1.25kg. The price starts at Rs. 74,990, and the laptop is now available for purchase from both online and offline retailers.

iBall launches SlidePen Book Windows 10 2-in-1 for Rs. 24,999


iBall is launching a new budget Windows 10 2-in-1 tablet in India dubbed SlidePen Book. As the name suggests the tablet comes bundled with digital pen for Windows Ink function, and lets users take notes, create lists, sticky note and draw on the screen. 

It also includes a detachable keyboard, that lets you attach it to the tablet and use as a laptop. There's also a fingerprint scanner on the keyboard for a secure login using Windows Hello. The tablet supports Cortana with Voice, and works above the lock screen too.

Coming to the specifications, the iBall Slide Penbook features 10.1-inch WVGA IPS touch display and is powered by 1.44 GHz quad-core Intel x5-Z8350 processor (Turbo Boost up to 1.92GHz). It comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, which can be expanded via microSD card. 

It has 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, and the connectivity features are USB Type-C port, micro HDMI, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, 3.5mm audio jack and Bluetooth 4.0. The keyboard has two USB 2.0 port for connecting peripherals. A 6000mAh battery keeps the lights on.

The iBall SlidePen Book has been priced at Rs. 24,999, and will be available in all leading stores across the country in Black color.
