Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge India launch set for March 8
Samsung officially introduced the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge at this year's MWC in Barcelona. The South Korean tech giant at the event announced that the Galaxy S7/S7 edge will go on sale worldwide starting March 11.
Now Samsung India has scheduled an event for March 8 in the nation's capital, New Delhi, where it will launch the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in the country. The pricing and other details will be revealed at the event.
According to reports both smartphones are likely to go on sale starting third week of this month. The report also adds that Samsung will invest about Rs. 100 crore on the marketing of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, to take on Apple's iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The Galaxy S7/S7 edge are expected to have a starting price of Rs. 45,000.
The Galaxy S7/S7 edge comes in two SoC versions, Snapdragon and Exynos, and India might be getting the Exynos version.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge has the same design as its predecessors, but comes with lot of improvements under the hood. Both devices have microSD card slot, IP68 rating for water resistance, and the USB ports come with moisture detecting sensor that disables the charging when the USB port is wet. It also has an 'Always ON' display mode that will show you basic information like time, notifications, calendar events when the phone is asleep.
While the Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch screen, the Galaxy S7 edge has a 5.5-inch curved screen. Both have Super AMOLED panel with QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolutions. They are powered by either a Snapdragon 820 SoC or Exynos 8890 SoC and come with 4GB RAM, and 32Gb/64GB inbuilt expandable storage.
For photography, there is 12-megapixel Dual Pixel rear camera, with f/1.7 aperture, PDAF and smart OIS. On the front there is 5-megapixel camera. Connectivity options on both include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11ac. Bluetooth, GPS and NFC. The Galaxy S7 is fueled by 3000mAh battery, whereas the Galaxy S7 edge has a larger 3600mAh battery, both supports Fast Charging technology, on both wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) charging. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI on top.
