Amazon Kindle Oasis is a eReader with slim design and battery case
As promised, Amazon has announced Kindle Oasis, a slim and light premium eReader. It has a new thicker-on-one side design design, and now has a large handgrip on side with physical page turn buttons, for tuning the pages. The Kindle Oasis also features an accelerometer, that allows the screen to rotate automatically to 180 degrees, so that the button will be on both left and right sides.
The Amazon Kindle Oasis sports 6-inch E-Ink display, which as 300ppi resolution, same as Kindle voyage, but has 60 percent more LED under the display, which make it more brighter. It houses 4GB storage and supports WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G (optional) connectivity.
The battery can last up to eight weeks between charges. It also has a new hibernation mode that minimizes power consumption when the Kindle is inactive.The eReader is 3.4mm thin, the thickest point is 8.5mm, and weighs about 131g.
Amazon is also bundling a leather battery case with the Oasis, that extends the battery life by several months. It attaches to the Kindle Oasis securely using Twelve magnets. When unplugged, the case can charge the Kindle’s battery, When plugged in, both batteries will be charged at the same time. The case comes in Black, Brown and Red color.
The Amazon Kindle Oasis WiFi model is priced at Rs. 23,999 ($289.99 in the U.S), while the WiFi + 3G model costs Rs. 27,999 ($359.99 in the U.S). It is now available for pre-order on Amazon India, and ships from April 27.
