Philips SpeechAir is an Android powered digital voice recorder

Consumer electronic company Philips has launched an Android based digital voice recorder dubbed SpeechAir, which at first glance looks like a smartphone. The company said that SpeechAir "unites the best of two worlds. It's the missing link between the worlds of smartphones and dictation recorders,".

It houses three microphones, that are meant for different tasks — a 360 degree microphone  for recording dictations and meetings, a directional microphone that provides noise-cancellation support and MEMS microphone for making VoIP calls. The voice recordings are backed by 256-bit AES encryption.

Design-wise, SpeechAir sports a rugged antimicrobial housing, and includes physical button to go back, home screen and access multi-window screen, a slider and a microphone grille.

The Philips SpeechAir features a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) IPS touchscreen display protected by Gorilla Glass. and is powered by 1.6GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor with 1GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, to store the recorded clips.

The voice recorder has a 5-megapixel rear camera, which can be used to read bar codes. It runs on a customized version of the dated Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and includes WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB and 3.5mm audio jack for connectivity. It is backed by a 2700mAh battery.that is rated to deliver 12 hours of recording.

The Philips SpeechAir comes bundled with a desktop docking station, headphones and power cables. Unfortunately, the pricing and availability details are not known just yet.
