CREO Mark 1 gets first monthly update, adds selfie flash, data manager and more

CREO launched its first smartphone, the Mark 1 with custom Fuel OS based on Android 5.1 Lollipop, which is on of the main highlight of the smartphone, as the company promised to push monthly updates with new features to the OS.

Now as promised, exactly one month after the launch the first update of Fuel OS has arrived and brings new features like Enhanced photo editor, Data Manager, Selfie flash, and upgrade to existing features such as Sense and Echo. The overall performance of the smartphone has also been improved says CREO. The update package weighs in at 15MB.

First up, Data Manager allows you to save cellular data consumption by turning off apps running in background. It also notifies users how much background data is being used by an app out of the total data consumption, and provides option to restrict unwanted apps from consuming background mobile data.

Enhance is a photo editor complementing Camera and Gallery apps that allows you to crop, transform and adjust images. It also lets you create custom presets and apply filters.

The Selfie Flash lets you capture better selfies in low light conditions using from facing 8-megapixel camera. When Selfie Flash mode is turned on, the display lights up for a split second  to deliver burst of light to capture the selfie.

The Mark 1's unified quick search functionality, Sense has received an update. You can now enter calculation and get real-time results, add a phone number to contacts, search for apps directly on the Play Store and WhatsApp any contact directly in Sense with double tapping the home button.

Finally, the built-in answering machine called Echo has now become more personalized. The new Free Echo Mode automatically directs all calls to Echo, when the phone is in silent mode or when an upcoming meeting is detected on the calendar. You can now set different welcome messages for different contacts in the device. It welcomes callers in six Indian languages – Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

CREO said that next month's Fuel OS update will bring new features to Sense as well as audio enhancements. In June, Mark 1 will get Android Marshmallow beta update, and the stable build will release afterwards.

The CREO Mark 1 priced at Rs. 19,999 and is available for purchase from the company website and Flipkart.
