Panasonic expects Rs. 2500-crore revenue from mobile phone this year, to launch 25 smartphones


Panasonic this year launched a couple of smartphones in India this year including Eluga Turbo, P66 Mega, T50, Eluga Arc, Eluga I3, new Eluga I2 variants (2GB/3GB RAM) and Eluga A2. Now it appears that the brand plans to introduce 25 more smartphones later this year in the country.

According to reports, Panasonic will launch about 25 smartphones this year and 15-20 of them will be launched before Diwali, which will be across various price points, Rs. 3,500 to Rs. 20,000. The company is expected to launch its most affordable smartphone to date priced at Rs. 3,500 next month.

However the main focus will be on the Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 segment as the company will launch eight products in the category to expand it growth in the country. The company expects revenue of Rs. 2,500 crore from mobile phones sales by launching multiple device across different price segments. It will also spend Rs. 200 crore for promotional and marketing campaigns as well.

Panasonic already has assembly facility in Nodia, which provides around 95 percent of its sales requirement. The company also plans to increase its assembly line to further support its growth in the country. It also plans to expand its exclusive showrooms later this year to 350 (currently 250).

Panasonic's aim is to sell around three million units this fiscal, up from 1.2 million last year.
