Pebble 2, Pebble Time 2 with heart rate sensor, Pebble Core fitness tracker announced
Pebble has returned to Kickstarter with three new next-gen wearable products. The popular smartwatch maker has unveiled Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2 smartwatches that comes with heart rate sensors, along with the Pebble Core fitness tracker, that doubles as music player.
The Pebble 2 and Pebble 2 Time smartwatches are equipped with optical heart rate sensors, which are located at the back and can also track fitness-related activities. They have built-in microphones and are water resistant for up to 30 meters.
The Pebble 2 sports a 1.26-inch e-paper display with Corning Gorilla glass on top and offers seven days battery life. The Pebble Time 2 offers the same feature as Pebble 2, but sports a sleeker design, steel body, a higher-resolution display, a silicon rubber strap and 10 days of battery life.
The Pebble Core is a clip-on wearable device (without display), aimed at runners to track their distance. It feature 3G modem (via SIM card), GPS tracking, 4GB internal storage, built-in headphone jack, Bluetooth, WiFi and wireless charging. The wearable can stream Spotify playlists over 3G and WiFi and can also book an Uber ride with a click. The Core offer 9 hours of music playback with GPS activated on a single charge.
The Pebble devices Kickstarter campaign started just yesterday with a goal of $1,000,000, and just inside 24 hours, the latest offerings have been funded five times more than the goal.
The Pebble 2 is priced at $99 (Rs. 6,700) on Kickstarter, and the regular retail price will be $129 (Rs. 8,700) when it hits the market. The Pebble Time 2 costs $169 (Rs. 11,400) on Kickstarter and $199 (Rs. 13,500) later. The Pebble Core is priced $69 (Rs. 4,650). The Pebble 2 will ship in September, Pebble Time 2 in November and Pebble Core in January.
