Ringing Bells' Rs. 251 smartphone to start shipping from June 30


In February this year, Noida based startup Ringing Bells announced the ultra-affordable Freedom 251 smartphone priced at an unbelievable Rs. 251. Despite all the controversies and allegations indicating it to be a scam, Ringing Bells is back and have revealed that it has nearly two lakh units of Freedom 251 ready for delivery, and the company will start shipping them to customers from June 30.

Ringing Bells also said that after the first phase of delivery of two lakhs Freedom 251 units, the company will open registration again for those who wish to purchase the smartphone. Rigning Bells had initially promised to ship 25 lakhs units of the phone before June 30.

Mohit Goel, Founder and CEO of Ringing Bells said "We learned from our mistakes and decided to go silent till we come out with the product. Now we have a 4-inch, dual-SIM phone ready for delivery. I feel vindicated. Our devices are completely ‘Make in India’ and were manufactured at our Haridwar-based manufacturing unit. We plan to sell two lakh devices every month"

Goel also said that the company is facing loss of up to Rs. 140 - Rs. 150 per units, but the company hopes to make profit on the volumes.

The Ringing Bells Freedom 251 is the cheapest smartphone in the world priced just at Rs. 251. It offer 4-inch display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 3.2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front camera, dual-SIM slots, 3G support, WiFi, Android Lollipop and 1450mAh battery.

The company also released Bell Smart 101 for Rs. 2,999, which is one of the most affordable 4G LTE smartphone available in Indian market. Other products from the company include two feature phones called Master and 4u, and a power bank with 5600mAh battery called Kiwi.

In addition, Ringing Bells announced they will be launching India's most affordable LED TV in the first week of July. The LED TV will be called Freedom and will cost less than Rs. 10,000. Goel said that one lakh units of its LED TV are in stock, and will be sold online with the promise of two day delivery.
