Sony confirms upgraded powerful PS4 console, but won't be unveiled at E3 2016

Rumors of Sony's next generation PlayStation console has been buzzing for quite some time. Now Sony Interactive Entertainment's CEO, Andrew House has confirmed to Financial Times that the company is working on an upgraded version of PlayStation 4.

House said that the high-end version of PS4, rumored to be codenamed Neo, will be expensive than the current $350 model of PS4. Earlier rumors suggested it could be priced at $399. He confirmed that the company will continue selling PS4 even after the release of PS4 Neo.

He also said that the PS4 Neo will be designed for hardcore games and have faster processor, improved graphics and would support 4K TVs. This means gamers will have a smoother experience when using the PlayStation VR with the gaming console. An earlier rumor suggested that the console would offer 4.14 teraflops of performance.

House also addressed concerns raised by developers that they would have to develop two versions of each game, one for PS4 and other for the PS4 Neo "All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4".

Despite confirming the existence of PS4 Neo, Sony is not planning to unveil the console at E3 2016, the gaming industry upcoming traded show [June 14 to June 16], but we can expect the company to give out some details.
