Xiaomi announces MIUI 8 Global ROM, beta ROM available July 11


Apart from launching the Mi Max in India, Xiaomi also announced MIUI 8 Global ROM and its availability details. The public beta of MIUI 8 Global ROM will be available from July 11 in the form of OTA updates, which can be found on Mi Community and Mi Forum. Starting August 16, Xiaomi will release the MIUI 8 Global Stable ROM for public.

Mi smartphones eligible for the public beta of the MIUI 8 Global ROM include Mi 5, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, and Mi 2. In the Redmi series, the eligible phones are Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 2, and Redmi 1s.

  • T9 Hindi keyboard
  • Mobikwik integration: For mobile and DTH recharges
  • SMS: Now has tags for different messages from Flipkart, HDFC Bank, Vodafone and more, Add booking to calendar
  • Power saving mode: Freezes background app activity, suspends syncs, updates and background tasks
  • Limits chain start-ups: Prevents unessential apps from starting up, reduces lags and power consumption
