In a bid to compete with Reliance Jio, that is expected to launch its 4G services next month, Airtel has announced revised slashed rates for some of its prepaid data recharge packs. The new scheme increases data benefits on prepaid packs by up to 67 per cent.

Under the revised data benefits, users will get following benefits (all with 28 days validity):

Rs. 455 4G/3G monthly recharge pack – 3GB data (instead of 2GB) 50 percent data benefit
Rs. 655 4G/3G monthly recharge pack – 5GB data (earlier 3GB) 67 percent data benefit
Rs. 755 4G/3G monthly recharge pack – 6GB (4GB earlier) 50 percent data benefit
Rs. 855 4G/3G monthly recharge pack – 7GB (5GB earlier) 40 percent data benefit
Rs. 989 4G/3G pack  – 10GB (6.5GB earlier) 54 percent data benefit

Airtel has also revised its rate for 2G/3G/4G sachet packs as well with benefits of up to 48 percent:

Rs. 5 4G/3G pack – 20MB valid for 1 day (earlier 15MB)
Rs. 23 4G/3G pack – 90MB valid for 3 days (earlier 70MB)
Rs. 53 4G/3G pack – 200MB valid for 5 days (earlier 160MB)
Rs. 145 4G/3G pack – 580MB valid for 14 days (earlier 440MB)
Rs. 5 2G pack – 30 MB valide for 1 day (earlier 20MB)
Rs. 25 2G pack – 145MB valid for 3 days (earlier 100MB)

“Added data benefits on monthly packs will boost data consumption amongst existing users by offering more value and sachet Packs will drive affordability and help bring first time users online,” says Airtel.

The move comes after Reliance Jio started offering Preview Offers to select Samsung smartphone user. Next week HP devices and select iPhones are also expected to get Jio Preview Offer, with other smartphone bands joining the bandwagon in the coming weeks.
