Xiaomi expected to launch its first VR headset on August 1


Xiaomi is mainly known for their smartphone, but off late the company has been rapidly expanding into new product categories. The company this year launched it's first drone, and a dozen of other products. Recently the company launched its first laptop, the Mi Notebook Air along with Redmi Pro smartphone. Now it looks like the Chinese company is all set to enter the virtual reality space as well.

Xiaomi has scheduled an event for August 1 to unveil its first VR headset. In addition the brand will also announce video resources that will give users an 'enjoyable VR experience' with the headset.

Xiaomi's upcoming VR headset is expected to work similar to Samsung's Gear VR, that would require a smartphone to experience VR. The VR headset will also supports Google's Daydream platform which has been developed for VR platform. The headset will be optimized to work with MIUI based smartphones. Nothing else is known of Xiaomi's headset.

There is no word on pricing, but since the product is coming out from Xiaomi's bag, who are known for their aggressive pricing,we can expect the VR headset to be priced cheaper.
