Apple Watch 2 will reportedly come with faster processor, GPS, barometer

Apple is expected to unveil the Apple Watch 2 alongside new iPhones at its annual Sring event sometime in next month. While the rumors of the next iPhones are pouring like a tsunami, new details of Apple Watch 2 have surfaced online.

Well known KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a note to investors have revealed that Apple is likely to launch new Apple Watch models in the second half of 2016, which means it could be arriving alongside the new iPhones.

Kuo said that Apple will launch two Apple Watch models this year, one with minor upgrades to the original Apple Watch and the other a new Apple Watch, coupled with new features. The upgraded version of Apple Watch will come with faster 16nm processor from TSMC and will be waterproof.

The high-end model will be Apple Watch 2 and feature 16nm processor, GPS radio, barometer and higher capacity battery. However the design, screen size and thickness of the new Apple Watch models will be same as first gen Apple Watch. Kuo also said that Apple will change the form factor of its smartwatch only in 2018.

Last week a report suggested that Apple Watch 2 will have thinner display and use One Glass Solution (OGS) display technology instead of Glass on Glass (G/G) technology.
