Selfie-centric Gionee S6s landing in India on August 22
Recently Oppo and Coolpad launched selfie-centric smartphones in India. Now Gionee is also joining the party. The company has sent out invites for the launch of a selfie-centric smartphone, most likely to be the S6s on August 22.
Although there is no official confirmation, various media reports and sources say the same. Additionally, the handset is also listed on India's import-export tracking website Zauba.
The main highlight of Gionee S6s is its front facing camera which is a 8MP shooter with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens. Having a front facing flash will be a treat for selfie lovers, especially during low-light conditions or night time. The main camera unit is 13MP Sony IMX258 shooter with LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording.
As for the other specs, the Gionee S6s has 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D curved class display, octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB inbuilt expandable storage, hybrid dual SIM slot, fingerprint scanner, 4G LTE and 3150mAh battery. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.2 UI on top.
The Gionee S6s was recently introduced in Vietnam for around Rs. 13,500, so we can expect the Indian pricing of S6s to be below Rs. 15,000.
