Datawind PocketSurfer GZ with Linux OS, one year free internet launched for Rs. 1,499


Low-budget tablet maker Datawind's PocketSurfer series offers smartphones at an affordable price bundled with a year of free internet browsing. So far, the company has launched three smartphones under the series – 2G4X, 3G4X and 3G 5 priced between Rs. 2,499 to Rs. 5,999.

Now Datawind has launched the most affordable smartphone of the series dubbed PocketSurfer GZ at Rs. 1,499. Building on last year's partnership with Reliance Communications, the PocketSurfer GZ comes bundled with RCOM’s service offerings that will allow users to enjoy free Internet access for a year.

The phone runs Linux operating system, has a touch screen display and rear camera with flash. There are no details on other specifications as of now.

The phone will be available via company website, as well as retail stores across the country.

According to IDC, DataWind leads the tablet market in India with 27.6 percent share.
