Xiaomi Mi 5 receives permanent price cut, now available for Rs. 22,999


Xiaomi has announced a permanent price cut of Rs. 2,000 on its flagship the Mi 5. The Mi 5 is now available for Rs. 22,999 from company website and Flipkart. All three hues – White, Black and Gold will be available at the reduced price.

To recap, Xiaomi launched the Mi 5 in the country back in March this year for Rs. 24,999. The specs include 5.15-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 820 SoC, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, 16MP rear camera, 4MP front camera, 4G LTE w/ VoLTE, IR blaster, dual-SIM slots, USB Type-C, fingerprint scanner, Android Marshmallow based MIUI 7 and 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge support.

The Mi 5 ships with MIUI 7, but Xiaomi just announced the release of MIUI 8 Global ROM, and Mi 5 will be getting it, in the coming days or weeks.

In related new Xiaomi's highly popular budget smartphone, the Redmi Note 3 has become the highest shipped smartphone in the history of India's online market at any given quarter, according to IDC, The company has shipped 8,80,000 units of Redmi Note 3 in the Q2 this year, which is almost double the volume of the secind shipped handset via online channels.

IDC also reported that Xiaomi sold 1.75 million units of the Redmi Note 3 in the country, in the first five month since its debut in March. Priced at Rs. 9,999 (2GB RAM/ 16GB storage) and Rs. 11,999 (3GB RAM/ 32GB storage), the Redmi Note 3 offers 5.5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 650 SoC, 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 4G VoLTE and 4100mAh battery.
